tony
I had a perfectly fine running Avanti-63-R1 with points. Thinking I was being smart, I decided to eliminate the points and go with Petronix Ignitor ll electronic ignition and replaced the coil with a Petronix Flame Thrower high voltage coil. After much confusion on the internet. I finally got my Avanti running well. However the tachometer is erratic. Does anyone have an answer for how to fix this problem. I know the Black tach wire goes to the negitive - on the coil. But the Tach does not work properly. Thanks in advance for your help, Tony
warren55
I apologize for my colleagues here, they apparently have been too busy to answer you! Since I hadn't dealt with that exact problem, I had Google do some work for me. Here's what I found, and I hope it helps! http://www.studebaker-info.org/tech/tach/tachpert.html
tony
Thanks for your response, but all problems have been resolved. Bob Johnstone"s article was found at the beginning of my search. It was more of a confusion then help. The two things that really helped was enlarging the Avanti wireing diagram to 20x24 and darkened so I was able to read it. The purchase of a Power Probe lll electrical tester.
