Glenn B
This morning while having my Avanti oil Changed, my mechanic showed my that there was some "flex" in the Bellcrank assembly. I have a 1975 Avanti with power steering. With the steering wheel locked in position and the wheels moved the bellcrank does move. Is this normal or should I replace the bellcrank shaft assembly?? Thanks Glenn
BobS
Does the ball crank move because it has wear in the shaft or because the tie rods have wear. In either case the answer is repair whatever is worn because you should not have any movement. As an aside, I had play in one kingpin and one tie rod end of my 83. After pricing parts separately, I ordered a complete rebuild kit from SI with rebuilt spindles and ball crank. $850 not including deposit. Glenn B
After doing some research on line (Bob Johnson's site), The bellcrank has some "up and down" movement. I will order the parts tonight. The tie rod ends look OK and my mechanic agreed. Thanks For your help
