jdmavanti
I'm re-installing the steering column in my 1963 R1, and neither the factory shop manual nor the parts catalog illustrate the correct arrangement for the 1350434 gasket (the large, rectangular foam piece) or for the 1350435 seal (the thinner, round foam piece). I'm guessing that the thin seal goes between the 1350438 stamped steel collar and the carpet. Does anyone know if the large foam piece goes underneath the carpet, i.e. between the carpet and the fiberglass toe board (firewall)? Also, the parts catalog shows four "X"s marked on the thick foam gasket - are these to indicate where holes should be cut in the gasket for the three screws to mount the collar to the toe board, and for the clutch operating rod to pass through?
