I sold my Avanti last year so no longer of interest to me. I have 27 issues of Avanti magazines from Summer-Fall 2003 (issue 123) to Winter-Spring 2010 (issue 149) plus the 150th anniversary issue. If any wants them just pay the postage. They should fit in a medium flat rate box which is $12.65. Harvey

I wanted white walls on mine. The largest I could find with white walls (keeping the same overall height) were 215/70/15 Cooper tires. I bought from Summit Racing.

Jim, this is a great idea. I registered and even started working on my garage. Harvey

The Studebaker- Intenational catalog lists it as 4879.
Same number as in the link I posted. The article must be correct.

Here is an article that will answer all ???'s regarding running changes to our cars.

The original Avanti centre section of the frame is still there. It looks from the pics that new front and rear frame rails were constructed to accommodate the Corvette front and rear suspensions.

Hi John,
I'm having the same problem. I installed new motors (400.00), lubed all moving parts and installed new lower rollers on the window channel. Still a problem raising windows without "manual" assistance. Reading other threads advise to wind up the regulator springs. If the price of the regulators you posted are for 2 I would be willing to share the cost. You take one and I take one as a test. At least we would only be out 1/2 the cost each. If they are 465 each I will continue with the "armstrong" assist method. Harvey

I was a Studebaker fan before the Avanti was introduced. My brother owned a 56 Flight Hawk and my dad bought a new 56 sedan. When the Avanti was introduced in 62 I was in awe. In the mid 70's I bought a 57 Golden Hawk which is sold in the early '80's because of economic reasons. In recent years I have bought an restored several 60's GM mid size cars. But in all the years from when I first saw the Avanti I never owned one. Last month I finally satisfied my 1962 dream. I now owna 63 Avanti that I'm finishing a full restoration that the seller started aomits 20 years ago. Am I a snob? No but to me an Avanti is a Studebaker. In fact when anyone asks what what I bought I always answer "Studebaker" because Studebakers are my roots to this car. Also, most people have no idea what an Avanti is but most know the name Studebaker. It's fun when they see the car and say "Gee, I've never seen a Studebaker that looks like that." I'm a member of AOAI and SDC. However I'm a Studebaker guy first. No snobbery here!

And 2826 Made it to Bellingham, WA from Arizona 10 days ago. Car was under restoration by previous owner who had to give it up. He has trusted me to finish it. Cant wait too get it done. Congrats to everyone like me who finally took an item off their "bucket list". Harvey

I didn't buy it this one on eBay. I found a 63 that had a restoration started almost 20 years ago. Restoration stalled and has been sitting for 10 years as is. I just today got it home from a 5 days road trip to AZ to pick it up. Will post some pics when I get organized. It's #2826 - gold, elk, ps, pb, a/c, p/w, tinted glass all and radio. Sold new in CA and been there and AZ its entire life. Finally after seeing my first one almost 50 years ago.

I appreciate all the comments and knowledge though.

Go to the Phoenix craigslist. There is one for sale for 7500. New power train, running gear. Needs paint and interior. Owner is "Walt". It's worth looking into.
