  1. The lid on this PS pump has the center wing nut to lock down the lid. Then it has a rubber plug with wing nut on one side.  opposite side has another rubber plug with wing nut. Plus what my mechanic called a vent plug that fits loosely in an 3/8" hole.  it is a plastic floating plug. No dip stick like most to check the level.

  2. I think my fuse for the moon roof is open. No power 12 Volts at the overhead switch. No current draw from the motor. Checked all fuses on the fuse block and all are OK. The Moon Roof schematic as shown on Bob Johnston avanti pages indicates there is an inline fuse that goes to the over head switch for the moon roof. Does anyone know where this fuse is located?????

    Thanks for your help.

  3. On mine it is the Fasten Seat Belts" warning light.

Thanks Charlie, I just never noticed it perhaps because I tend to but on my seat belt when I enter the car. I did see the light go on so I know it works but never relized that it was for seat belts.

    Thanks Again.

  4. On my 84 avanti there is a red light the size of a quarter on the console between the venting/heater levers and the gear shift lever. I could not find any info in the owners manual for this light. Does anyone else have this light on their console? if so what is it for? Thanks for the information

  5. Not that I've ever seen or heard of. The best you can do is use the original Avanti shop manual printed by Studebaker for overall general use and simply deal with the changes in an '84 as you run into them. Sources like Dan Booth at Nostalgic Motors and Jon Myer's at Myer's Studebaker are priceless sources of information and advice.

    Thanks Gunslinger, I'll try that.

  6. Woops I must have hit the wrong key.

I am the new owner of the 84 aqb 4096. I have had it about a month now and it is indeed a great machine. For the condition and previous owners care of the car the pricing that I purchased it for was fair. It would have been better from the auction a couple of months ago but I do have a fantastic car. It must have all the options that were offered in 84.

I would like to contact the previous owner for a couple of questions as it looks like he must have bween an AOAI member. Does this site maintain a listing for previous owners?

So now the car is in the Los Angeles Area.

  7. That would be a nice turn around on the guy's investment if it goes for the BIN price. But I think the bidding will stall out a ways before $22 K. If it were that easy to double one's investment with Avanti's, there would be a lot more people into that business. I don't think many Avanti enthusiasts got an Avanti with the goal of doubling their investment. More often than not, an owners' original investment doubles in the car, getting it in "perfect order". Most owners, like me, get an Avanti for the love of the car, not as a profit maker.
