Friends,
Is it difficult to remove the "cow catcher" bumper from a late 70s Avanti where it CONNECTS TO THE FRAME? (So as not to leave the tubes below the front bumper). How is it done?
Thanks,

I've seen photos of hog troughs literally rusted away. Nothing left. If people can continue to drive their cars and not seem to miss the troughs, why are they so important to repair/replace?

Friends, I don't have an Avanti but I have a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity. Is there a problem with clearance from the ground if using what I would call a "traditional" muffler from back in the '70s? Does anyone remember "turbo" mufflers? I recall buying them from JC Whitney for 10 bucks or so at the time...

Thanks for that info. Is the panel where the hinges are bolted (as seen entering the car) and where the RQB tag is located - metal <edit spelling> or fiberglass?

What is the cause of sagging doors (drops .5" when opened) and what's the best fix?

Gunslinger,
That's very helpful. I'd post a photo to help show what I'm speaking of except I don't know how to (post a photo)...

Friends,
I've seen two photos (1975 & 1976 year cars) where the front reservoir was capped. Thus, there was only a single brake line. I don't recall when ALL cars had separated brakes. Most disc/drum combo brakes require separate lines due to the difference in pressure/volume requirements of discs and drums.
So, what's the deal? How do they work from a single source? Why would the master cylinder have 2 reservoirs?
Thanks,

Friends,
I once had a '65 Chevrolet Caprice, 396/325 with single exhaust. I changed it over to a dual exhaust and was amazed at how much better the engine breathed. A buddy of mine gave me his cast iron exhausts from his '66 Impala w/427. I was again amazed at the difference. It was similar to going from a single to dual exhaust. When I put some actual headers on, I couldn't tell the difference from the 427 iron manifolds - the difference may have been there but masked by the additional noise. My point is the difference in going from the tiny little mouse motor manifolds to ANYTHING that might breathe better.
Cheers!

Thanks for info, fellas. Jim: that's exactly what I was looking for. It's a beauty.
