If anyone in interested in an extremely FINE Studebaker Avanti R2, then this one is for you. This is a driver that can win First Place in any Studebaker/Avanti judging.

I have seen this vehicle and it is complete stock (except for one improvement). This turquoise is truly a "one-of-a-kind" that is owned by a "car family."

Studebaker made 4643 Avanti's...plus a few prototypes with "EX" VIN's. I've never seen hard figures, but most sources I've read seem to feel that about one third were R2's. There were nine factory equipped R3's and none left the factory with R4 engines, though the option was available toward the end of production.

About the only way to get an actual figure is to examine the actual production sheets which I understand now belong to Dan Booth at Nostalgic Motors. I have no idea if those records are even complete.

I have found a lot of numbers regarding Avanti production of 63 and 64 models, but I would like to know how many R2's were made in those years! Does anybody know?

I am in Michigan and I'm in search of a R2, would like a 4speed if possible, don't want a junk pile, or a trailer queen. I have a few leads, one needs a engine etc. What is the range that cars have gone for recently? Any places I should look other than here , SDC, Fleabay? Any help?

I have a 63 r-2 Turquoise Avanti Automatic that my father ordered new. It is not a Trailer Queen and far from a pile of junk! It has 44,000 miles on it and has always been garaged kept. I am in Illinois about a 135 miles south of Chicago. I have all paper work for it and can document its one owner status. I have photos of car and documents. If you are interested I will talk with you.
