On my 63 avanti, i have an issue with the 5 amp circuit breaker. With the key on but the engine not running, i get a pulsing on the Ammeter on about 3 second intervals. When i looked at the fuse block, i could see a flash inside the circuit breaker coinciding with the pulse on the gauge. could someone give me some advice on what the 5 amp breaker is connected to?

Is there a source for a replacement upper a-arm for a 63 avanti? I don't see them in stude int'l website or catalog...

Thanks. it didn't look like a good idea. You have convinced me.

Anyone have any thoughts on mounting a 289 ci engine on an engine stand without taking off the bell housing?

i believe you have confirmed my fears. i do have AC, but not the small hands, long fingers or rubber arms. Thank you though.

I am in the process of taking out the engine of my 63 so I can have the engine compartment painted. I removed the wiper motor and found that it is bolted on with nuts that are under the mounting and are now somewhere down in the fan motor or somewhere else under the dash. It looks like i have to go on a mission of taking apart the pieces under the dash to reinstall the motor when the painting is complete. Any thoughts on this issue?

I have a 63 avanti that mostly sits in my garage. I start it every two to four weeks. It has recently started an annoying habit of making a lot of clattering noise that sounds like it is coming from the valves. This only occurs after the car has been running a few minutes. I have good oil pressure and compression.
A friend says that I need to use oil with Zinc additive due to the age of the car. Anyone think this is the root of this problem?

I've decided that it is not the original tach. I just hooked it up with a power, ground annd coil connection and it seems to work fine. I think it might be a re-engineered tach built within the original housing. Anyway, I'm happy.

i have attached a photo of my tachometer. i am trying to confirm that it is not original equipment. i have researched the issue and confirmed that the sending unit is not present, and it looks like there may have been a replacement of the tach. if anyone can lend some assistance, i would appreciate it.

On my 63 avanti, I think the coolant temperature sensor has been removed. Can someone give me a primer on replacement?

dash light sockets.

I am replacing the dash lights with LED lamps on my 63 Avanti. The reference I am using says the tach lights are the hardest to get to, and that they are at the 2:00 and 8:00 position on the Tach case. I couldn't find any lamp sockets on the tach at all, so I pulled it out of the dash. I found the holes for the sockets, but at the 3:00 and 9:00 position, and they were covered with tape. The sockets will not be able to be installed in that position due to steering column and i don't see any way to spin the case around to get the holes in the referenced position.
This is all a bit mysterious. I"m planning to drill new holes and install the sockets and lamps where they are supposed to be. I have only one light socket that is available, so I need another. Does anyone have any suggestions on sockets that would match the Avanti's dash light sockets. Or any reactions in general on what I have shared?
Thanks.
