I'm no expert, but have owned several Avantis since the late 1960s. That looks like some type of radiator support, but not for an Avanti. I have had Avanti radiators and engines out and don't recognize your piece of metal.

Great, thanks...thats what I was thinking. In the trash now.

Great, would you be interested in selling what you have left? My paint shop is in Valley Center, not far from you.

Thanks Dwight, how do I get ahold of you outside of here. Here's my number 805-698-3072

Thanks for all the great guidance here. I now have 2 Avanti's and two different posts. Thanks Dwight for the interior orange color swatches. I am planning on using an orange leather instead of vinyl. Is it possible to send swatches to you to try and match your swatches, I'm trying to get as close as I can without having your book in front of me. If this is too much of an inconvenience I get it. I don't want to set precedence either or you may be inundated with Avanti restorers requests. Also trying to lock down the color. I am attaching photos that I think may be closer to factory grey.

Thank you! what an amazing resource you guys are here.

Interesting here it says it had fawn and black carpet. Was there such a thing?

Thank you! It is all there... bought it from the son of the deceased owner. They are old Appliance Plating mags, I had forgotten about that brand.
I have the build sheet as well as the original window sticker. It was Avanti Gold and Elk interior. My least favorite color!

Thanks Dwight! What a great resource book. The decision is in....Gray with Orange interior. Thanks everyone...

Again, thanks everyone for your input. I think according to Dwight in another post, Avanti gray cars in 1963 did come with orange interiors. Probably not many and I couldn't find a picture of one but may be an interesting combo.

Thanks everyone for your input. It's nice to see a more realistic crowd in the Avanti world. I have a C2 Corvette that I'm also getting ready to restore and those people are nuts. I have to have the correct numbers matching shoes to wear if I want to driving it. I'm in full agreement with the color black, had a few cars in this color, thanks for bringing me back to my senses...Avanti Grey makes me melt. Great picture Dwight. Where do I find that exact match? How about interiors? mine came with Fawn/Elk but thinking Orange...Haven't seen it in person..is it too much? Does it take away or add to the class the Avanti exudes.

I am the new proud owner of a 1963 R2 4speed Avanti in need of a total restoration. It appears to be numbers matching with
Avanti Gold as the original color. Gold is my least favorite color on a car. The question is to all of the Avanti people out there, how
much will it affect the value of the car if I paint it a different color. I am leaning toward Avanti grey or black. I would really appreciate
your thoughts and I value your input.

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for the post, I just joined and met Dave through Craigslist. Great guy as you say. I am flying out from California to look at the cars and would like your take on
a couple of them. Is it possible to give you a call?
Thanks,
Terry

I use RPM carburetors in Midway City, Ca. Bob is the absolute best at his work and wonderful person too. He has rebuilt and tuned several carbs for me. He has
my Carters now from my R2's. He's backed up a bit now but usually can get you in within a month or so. 714-897-1452
