  1. no link came up. I also do mostly GM stuff. This is nothing like a GM. I tried to tack it back on with a wire welder but the tin is too thin and the t/c too thick so used JB weld. so far so good. See how it reacts to heat. I love the way this trans shifts but if it has to come out a 2004r is going back in.

  2. I have had a strange buzzing noise that comes on off idle and goes away at 1800 rpm in any gear. Put the car on the lift and found the heat shield welds in two places failed on the t/c. Has anyone tried to remove this without removing the trans? I don't have a picture of the t/c, only the profile in the mtc manual. any actual photo of it would be appreciated.

  3. My 1969 has had many changes done to the wiring such as adding a ford style starter solenoid and Hella headlight system that uses a relay system to power them. They use a lot of amps and I replaced them with Sylvania halogens that use less power and are still bright. The original harness was hacked up to do these mods. There is also a box that is attached to the steering column with a hose clamp that looks like a dimmer switch from a GM type car with a rod that goes towards the steering wheel that isn't attached to anything and doesn't appear to do anything but when disconnected kills the tail lights. It also has led taillights.  No paperwork came with the car about these mods and the install looks kinda bad. I have a 63-4 print but there seems to be some differences between it and the 69. What I intend to do is restore the wires to some semblance of original and a 69 print would sure help. Was one ever made? is one available?

  4. I tried to remove the right side panel on my 69 Avanti and after removing all the screws I could find it was still secure. The Avanti workshop  manual I have is no help. Does the seat have to come out or are there two separate  panels? I've been through the forum and did not find anything on this topic using the search " console side panel removal". May have missed it.

  5. Sorry to be back so late. Went to my local Oreilly parts store and after looking for the CIPA 19100 which they don't carry, I settled for a pair of $10.00 specials (Ksource p/n 1401) to get me by. To my surprise, the fit the same holes as the originals and I can see better out of both sides. They still interfere with the vent windows but the vision, especially from the right side is much improved. Still may look for the CIPA's as they are the rally style but these work so well I won't need to be in a hurry. Anyone need a nice strato with an extra mirror included?    As an aside, I was once in the Studebaker Drivers club in St Louis in 1973 till about 1979. I had a 1960 white with red interior Lark convertible and a 1963 Avanti R2 gold with fawn interior.

  6. I have just broken the drivers side stratoview mirror on my 1969 Avanti RQA 0354. I didn't like them much and was planning on replacing them with the later rally style used on the later models.Anyone know of a source for this style mirror? I will have a passenger side for sale but I think they're repros anyway but in good condition.
