  1. If anyone wants shocks or the progressive front springs that work so well in V8 Studebakers, I am taking orders and can deliver to the 2022 AOAI international meet in Brookfield. The springs are now $205 per pair. The Gabriel classic gas shocks are $30 each for fronts and $45 each for rears. I have two sets of front shocks in stock and one set of rears. They fit all Studebaker chassis Avantis.

  2. I have a 66 Avanti. The clearance issue is not the engine per se but the way the A/C compressor is mounted. The top of the compressor is real close to the hood. I used a Sanden and there is plenty of clearance. Even with an Edelbrock Performer intake the air cleaner is not close. The compressor mount could have been easily changed if retaining the rake was a desired result. Studebaker's marketing study after the car was in the market showed that the people that did not like the car stated the rake was one of the main reasons for the dislike. No car of that era had a rake like that. N/A just made it look like the other cars of the era.

  3. Back in the day (1975) I built a 400 SBC for a 70 Nova. The short block was built stock but blueprinted. I used a factory 350 HP 327 cam and a set of small chamber double hump #461 head castings with 1.94/1.5 valves. Using a 4 speed and 3.08 rear end, this car regularly returned 24 MPG on the highway. Performance wise it ran out of steam at about 5000 RPM but it was a high 14 second street car. Today I would expect results plwindish describes.
