I almost did mine with engine turned aluminum. I even bought the vinyl applique (real aluminum was super expensive). I decided against it because I didn't think it would maintain its appeal in my particular car. I went with black anodized overlays from the 20th anniversary Avanti.
Thanks for the info!

I've always felt like the shift knob in my 76 Avanti is a little...small. I saw the shift knob in the Blake Avantis and it's quite a bit bigger, as you can see in this pic. I like the look of this knob much more.
How difficult would it be to switch to an aftermarket shift knob? Have any of you done it? Think Nostalgic might have one of these from a Blake Avanti?

There are two types of Recaro seats you'll find in Avantis. These are in Avantis from about the mid-70s to early-80s (I think).
These red seats are from the 1984 on. There might be some overlap with 83, but you get the idea.
Nostalgic (I think) had a set of pretty ratty Recaros of the second type on eBay for $2100 recently. The second type of Recaros are really hard for some of us larger gentlemen to get in and out of because of that massive bolster.
I like the first type for earlier Avantis, but both are very nice.

I want to replace the stereo in my '76 Avanti II. It's an aftermarket unit that someone installed in the 80s. Before I tackle this job, I thought I'd check and see if there's anything special.
Do I need to remove the speaker from the dash?
Thanks,
Robert

Good idea about the bulbs. I bought a new set of gauge bulbs from Nostalgic a while back.

This weekend I'm going to start the process of removing my gauges. I've looked at the manual for the process and gotten a few tips here and there. Do you have any suggestions for how to approach this task? Some of the tips I've seen include:
-Have small hands
-Remove the speaker in the center of the dash
-Remove the driver's seat
-Wear a head mounted light
Do you have any tips to add?
Thanks!

They are DPDT momentary toggle switches, all four of them. Pushing them down reverses the polarity. My electrical engineer friend helped me figure it out.

I'm looking for replacement window switches for my 1976 Avanti II (RQB-2427). Does anyone know the source of these switches or what type they are? I'm having trouble tracking down the information to get my search underway.
They are the black switches that sit four in a row on the console (window, aux lights, deicer, window).
Thanks!

My steering wheel is exactly like this one.
Here's a pic of the bolt pattern.

Does anyone know where I can get an adapter to mount a Nardi steering wheel in my 76 Avanti II? I *think* it has the Chrysler column but I'm not positive. Any pointers are appreciated.
Thanks!

Yeah, I need that silver button. My seat has the screw for it, but the button is missing. It should just screw right on. Thanks for the help.

You are correct, that's the button I'm looking for. I'll try Nostalgic tomorrow. I'm new to the Avanti scene and still figuring out what everything is and where I can get parts.
Thanks very much!

Does anyone know where the seats came from for the 1976 Avanti II? I need the button to move the seat forward and I can't find one anywhere. I'm hoping the seats are pretty common.
Thanks!

9/16-18 is a Corvette size, if I recall correctly.
