First. Thanks for the help you all have given in the past. Can anyone tell me what car the lens that indicates what gear the transmission is in on a '89 came from? I have looked at corvettes, malibus, monte carlos, and caprices, and none seem to be a match. I assumed the caprice would be the logical choice, as most of the chassis parts came from it. Thanks again.

The front parkinglight/turn signal bulb on my '89 with ground effects is burned out. How do I access it? Does the lense snap out? I can't see how to access it from under the car.

My '89 doesn't have the label either, but my local chevy dealer said they could tell by the recharge connectors that it had never benn converted from r12. The r12 connectors are screw on and look like a tire valve. the r134a connectors are a snap on style. I was afraid to ask the cost of converting.

Mike. they have a electric driven drum that resembles a dyno drum. It is pushed against the rolling surface of the tire and spins it at road speed. There is also a strobe light that highlights the out of balance part of the wheel and tire. I used these in the 60's when I worked on service stations. I have always maintained it is a better way to truly balance a tire/wheel and brake drum or rotor. All the spinning components.

Thanks, Michael. Please do keep me in mind. I have had no problem with the Dunlops yet, but the car only has 33,000 miles on it so who knows as I intend to drive it. It's "trailer queen" days are over!

They are the OEM Dunlops that were on the car when it was purchased new. Made in India.

I lost a center cap off one of my dunlop wires this morning. Does anyone have a source?

Thanks. The one place I didn't look! I checked a lot of other forums, and it appears all auto makers were using base / clear by 1989. One suggested using cleaner wax in an inconspicuos place and if the cloth picks up color it isn't clear coated. Thanks again.

I have two questions about the paint on my red 89 convert. Where is the paint code sticker located, and did the 89's have base coat / clear coat paint?
-
The 89 convert has the 89 Caprice frame if that helps. If you want to sell those wires after you make the switch please contact me rhcross@charter.net. I like mine, and would like to have some back ups. Especially if thay all have the center caps.

Sorry for the delayed response. been away. i'll send some pics to your email. MY vin ends in 508. I have it wrong in my profile.Thanks. 20 gallons is consistent with my usage experience so far. Are you # 508 or # 608? Send me photos of your convertible if convenient.

My 1989 convertible has the larger (20 gallon) tank and the vin is close to yours. The last three being 508.How many gallons in a 1989 convertible fuel tank?

Thanks Michael. Just the info I needed. I purchased my red convertible also, with grey interior. I think that's rare. I would like to compare notes and experiences also, (562) 423-0148, rhcr@charter.net. By the way, the last three of the vin are 508. I put it in wrong on my first posting. Thanks again. By the way, what was your source for the rubber and window wipes. My car has been sitting for years, and they are shot.

I have a 1989 convertible with a drivers side exterior door handle coming loose. Is the procedure for removing the interior door panel beyond an amatuer? Any special tools required. It has power mirror controls in the door panel.

In the process of removing the console for wood refinishing it turned out to be very brittle, and broke in three places. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try Jon, and see if he has any info. Thanks..
