Hi 

Running upon a problem with my brakes, I need to change the master cylinder and the mastervac next to it.  Due to a leak of air, the pin doesn't go back and there is fluid leakage also.  I have noticed that Studebaker International is selling new master cylinder and what they call "power brake booster".  Is these are the 2 items are the ones I have to change?

And are they compatible with the ones I have in my Avanti 2 year 1981?  In 1981 what did they use AMC, GM??

HI,

Next to the gearbox of my Avanti 2 198, a blue and a white wires are circulating and continue to the dashboard.  They are not attached to anything.  The wires for the light for the gear position level is identified already. So what are they for? that is the question.

Any idea?

[UNKNOWN INTERIOR LIGHT]

Hi,

Upon restoring the electricity of my Avanti 2 1981, my electrician have found a broach at the column next to the key slot.  He thinks that it coud be to illuminate the key slot.  I have never heard about that on an Avanti 1981. And I don't see any bulb at the key slot.  Does anyone has a clue to this question?

HI

I would like to get more precisions regarding the way the defrost/deicer button in the center column of my Avanti 2 1981works.  You can push it forward and it give a negative impulse; you can push it rearward and it will give a positive impulse.  is there a timer somewhere for this defroster- deicer?

If someone could give some informations to my electrician how all this works, it would be great.

[SEAT BELT ALARM]

I just bought on Ebay a Sealt Belt buzzer for a 1982 Avanti 2 to add to my Avanti which is a 1981.  Thinking it should be easy to plug it in, I was very optimistic. It seems that I do not have the broaches for it. My car doesn't have any sensor in the front seats to inform that a passenger is sitting. Is it possible to create them and connect them to the existing wires which exist for the "fasten your seat belts" light on the center panel? I would like to have the timer light and the buzz sound when I switch on the car.

If some one has the electrical plan of this device, it would be a great help for my electrician.

Restoring my AVANTI 2 1981, I noticed that the buzzer that makes a sound when the headlights are left on is working when the ignition is on ( and while the car is on the road) and that it stops when I remove the key. It seems to be working in the opposite way it should.  Any help?

I am puzzled when I look at the Ac knobs on the back of the center panel of my Avanti II 1981.  The fan switch has 3 positions for only 2 broaches in the back and there is a wire coming from the thermostat knob to the fan knob. how does all this work?

Hi,

While fixing the electricity of my Avanti 1981, I discover that when I switch on the lights ( L/H beam) with the switch above the windscreen, the illumination of the indications in the central column ( windows, deicer, a lite) goes off. What is the problem?

Hi,

I am restoring the electricity of my 1981 Avanti.  While removing the ashtray next to the gearbox, I have discovered a bulb underneath  .  The ashtray was not lightened when I bought the car, so I have no idea how it works.  This bulb is not fixed to the ashtray and not visible, so how could it lighten the ashtray as there is no opening.

My avanti II 1981 is undergoing electrical rehabilitation and I have found a strange light (looking like a square red buton) just behind the courtesy light underneath the dashboard. The cable are not connected and I don't know what is it for and how it works; any idea?

[Locating RQB serial number]

I have bought several months ago an Avanti II year 1981 from a car dealer in France who is known to import American Cars. When I bought it it had already a french certificate of title with the serial number: RQB V8.

I think this is not the real serial number. On An other forum I noticed that a serial number could be engraved somewhere in the car, but WHERE???

Thank you plwindish for your answer. Now I know that the dashboard is illuminated in red. I guess the buttons on the roof which are dedicated to light/int.light and fan are also illuminated in red. I have already printed the ellectrical wiring schematic from Bob Johnstone. They are usefull but, like many avantis I guess, mine has its wiring been modifyed.

When I turn on the Aux Lite switch, a red light is on in front of the switch. My Avanti doesn't have any lights under the front bumper (fog lights). So is this switch useless?
