"clip" for interior door trim

Have a 63/64 Avanti.  The interior door trim or panel consists of a vinyl top with carpet below.  Between the vinyl and carpet is a metal horizontal trim.  The forward end of this trim is loose.  How is the trim fastened to the door panel ?  If clips are used, where can one purchase the clips.  Thanks to all, Daryl

The stainless molding is "wrapped" around a steel backer. That backer strip has long rectangular slots punched into it on three sides. That makes a piece of metal that is then bent out to become a "pin" which protrudes through the door panel and is bent over the inside of the cardboard. Most times the metal tab breaks off, leaving the stainless loose. The only way to fix it properly is to remove the panel find all the other pins and straighten them and remove the stainless strip. Then silver solder new pins to good metal, then reinstall the molding.

I have seen many that drill through the stainless and put screw through them, but it ruins them for proper installation.
