stuart Posted January 5 Report Posted January 5 My 63 with power steering has a valve on the top of the reservoir. leaks fluid from this port. most PS pumps have a different top assembly. is this factory or is their a problem causing it to leak fluid out the top?
Dwight FitzSimons Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 The only P.S. reservoir lids (covers) that I have seen on Studebakers that are not stock are Ford lids. They have a dipstick to check the P.S. fluid. The dipstick has a round cap. Is this what you mean? If the seal on the cap is deteriorated it can leak fluid out onto the P.S. pump lid. --Dwight
stuart Posted January 6 Author Report Posted January 6 The lid on this PS pump has the center wing nut to lock down the lid. Then it has a rubber plug with wing nut on one side. opposite side has another rubber plug with wing nut. Plus what my mechanic called a vent plug that fits loosely in an 3/8" hole. it is a plastic floating plug. No dip stick like most to check the level.
Nelson Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 Your lid is not correct. It shouldn’t be difficult to find an orig8nal.
stuart Posted January 9 Author Report Posted January 9 thanks have located different lid should clear up the leaks. Stu
