mfg Posted January 13, 2015 Report Share Posted January 13, 2015 OK...I'll give it a 'shot'!.....The numbers over the center exhaust port of R3-4 heads signify the head casting number, and unlike the casting number on the engine block, that number also signifies the Studebaker part number.......No? mfg Posted November 29, 2021 Report Share Posted November 29, 2021 Between 1966 and the early seventies, hundreds of Studebaker "6" and "V8" cylinder heads were shipped to Hurwich Iron in South Bend for disposal.....I wonder if any of the rare R3-R4 heads met their fate that way?.....Hopefully not, but I guess we'll never know!!!
