R3-R4 heads

OK...I'll give it a 'shot'!.....The numbers over the center exhaust port of R3-4 heads signify the head casting number, and unlike the casting number on the engine block, that number also signifies the Studebaker part number.......No?

Between 1966 and the early seventies, hundreds of Studebaker "6" and "V8" cylinder heads were shipped to Hurwich Iron in South Bend for disposal.....I wonder if any of the rare R3-R4 heads met their fate that way?.....Hopefully not, but I guess we'll never know:o!!!

I remember around 1971-1972 when you could buy V8 heads, NOS fenders, etc. at Hurwich for $10 each.
