Did convertible production ever surpass the coupe and touring sedan production in any given year or years? If so, when?

I'm going to take a guess and say that convertible production was #1 in 1991...because although they made a handful of 1991 convertibles, I don't believe they made any Coupes or Touring Sedans that year.

The last generation of Avantis...2001-2007...most were convertibles as that's what people seemed to want, plus the coupes were far more difficult to build, though they sold for much less.

The only Avantis made in 1991 were 15 convertibles, no coupes or touring sedans, but that is not the complete answer for the "Avanti Bodied" cars, not Firebird or Mustang based.

But, in truth, my answer in post #2 does satisfy the question.

The question was "...any given year or years". 1991 was a correct answer. 2001-2007 was also a correct answer. I guess it's a variation of depending what the meaning of what is is!

It appears that neither answer completely satisfied the question as stated.

There is more than one year's answer for the question, which is concerning the Avanti bodied cars and not the 2002 - 2007 cars. 1991 is one of the answers as they only made the 15 convertibles that year. Keep thinking about the other years.

When I saw the numbers, I was surprised with the '88 and '89 convertible production.

Yes Touring Sedan is the 4 door. The LSC is a longer bodied Avanti, basically about 9" in the rear seat area. Its noticeable in the rear windows. Are they worth more???? They would be a more comfortable ride for the rear seat passengers. The Silver Anniversary Coupes were supercharged, low numbers and special color. One was out at the Dover Meet. It would be a nice addition to anyone's Avanti collection.

I have been updating an owner's list of Luxury Touring Sedan's (4-doors) for many years and have found no evidence that more than 90 LTS's were built. You list 97. I suspect if that is from Avanti Motors' records, it indicates the number of serial numbers released to Production, but NOT the actual numbers of cars completed. Can you substantiate?

John Hull states there were 97...and he has the records to go by. One caveat...that's serial numbers used but that doesn't necessarily means some numbers weren't skipped. Maybe he knows for sure if that's actual production vs. just a serial number range.

This breakdown is very informative!.. Question.... I don't see a figure for the number of Avanti coupes built in 1985...but doing the math, the number of '85 coupes appears to be 97...Is this correct?
