  2. I just did mine this spring.

The old springs were very soft, The car bottomed easily though the springs had not sagged much.

The new springs are extremely "factory" in their ride and height. That is, it rides like a "normal" passenger car.

My preference would have actually been for a little more firm spring!

Go for it, you will not look back.

Thanks for the reply. My concern has been the ride height, as I've read enough on various forums to be convinced that the "ride" would be very good, if not great.

    Thanks again

  3. I decided to use the repaired steering wheel, but alas, it broke again(I guess I didn't do such a great job on the repair). My final solution to the problem was to install a Raptor wheel with a Grant kit and it worked out very well. I can drive again.

I'd be interested in the broken wheel.Let me know if you'll sell it.

    Thanks

  4. I'm seeking input from forum members that have used the Moog C655 / DuralastRCS655V in their '63/'64 Avanti. Specificly, I'd like to know if these springs raised or lowered the ride height, and if so by by how much. How much time/mileage did it take for the springs to "Settle In"? After they settled in what was the ride height relative to where it should be on a '63/'64.

Any advise and input from your experience with these springs will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    John

  5. To my knowledge ( 40 years of Avanti ownership ) the heater bower circut is fused in the fuse box and has nothing to do with the A/C.

On my car, the A/C power is fused in an inline fuse holder ( glass barrel fuse ) and ,as I recall, the fuse holder is located just above and just to the right of the parking brake assembly.

    Hope this helps

  6. Antique Auto Battery (google website) makes a maintance free battery (gell type like Optima) in a 3EE size with Willard on the side (brand used by Studebaker). They list the dimensions a being 9" tall which gives me a bit of concern so I would contact first and make sure the actual height matches a 3EE battery and not the 3EH battery. The biggest draw back on this battery is price. Last quote I saw was $270 (without shipping). I went with Interstate lead acid battery and can buy almost 3 of them for the price of the Antique Auto Battery.

One other thing I would recomend. .... I purchased this auto absorbing battery mat and trimmed it to fit under my battery. If I do get any linkage or acid this battery mat absorbs it and neutralizes it, protecting the paint finish on the fender inside the engine bay.

I have this battery from Antique Auto Battery, and yes it is pricey. It comes with six caps and looks like a acid filled battery, so for those that are wanting a restored car, this looks correct, in my opinion. I use Optima Batteries on my Street Rods and keep them on a charger when not being driven. I've gotten at leat 8 years on some, and as many as 10 on some. I've owned this 3EE for about 3-4 years and keep it on a charger as well. I should point out that Antique Auto says that ONLY the Odyessy Battey Charger will properly charge this battery. The bad news is another $100.00 for the charger. So you are looking at $400.00 +/- total, but if it lasts 8-10 years and there is no acid to leak,( I've had that disaster in my 40 year ownership of this car ! ) in my opinion that's not a bad buy.
