  1. This morning while having my Avanti oil Changed, my mechanic showed my that there was some "flex" in the Bellcrank assembly. I have a 1975 Avanti with power steering. With the steering wheel locked in position and the wheels moved the bellcrank does move. Is this normal or should I replace the bellcrank shaft assembly??

    Thanks

  2. A few years ago I needed to remove the Pitman Arm and Control valve. I loosing up the pitman arm with a fork, which took some time and as I recall, some engineering of the tools, I found I needed to jack up the engine to get the pitman arm off. I removed the motor mount bolt from the drivers side and inserted a short piece of 2x4 between my jack and where the oil pan bolts to the block and jacked it up a few inches. I placed a block between the 2 pieces of the motor mount to support it engine and remover the pitman arm and the control valve. It was not easy or pretty, but it worked.

    Hope this helps

  3. Does anyone know the resistance and wattage values of the resistor used for the instrument lights dim setting circuit? Thanks!

I figured out the size and wattage for that resister last year. I do not remember the size but you need to use a power resister. I am out of town for the next few weeks, but if you send me a e-mail after 2/7 I will send you the resister as I had to buy 2 of them. While I like to have things working on my Avanti, I do not believe that I have ever used the lower setting as dash lights being to bright is one problem I have never had as an Avanti Owner.

  4. Sorry I am repling to such an old post, but I may have an answer to it. I removed my pitman arm last summer and found that if you loosen up the drivers side motor mount and jack up the engine a few inches you can get the arm off. I do not remember what type of removing tool I used but it might have just been a large fork. It wasn't as hard as it might sound to remove the bolts from the motor mounts. Good luck
