  1. Hi Mark,

I like your plan but I think you will find that disputes between customers and insurance companies are NOT NEWS. Too common and remember

who buys those big display adds in the newspaper, not you would be my guess. Newspapers rely on advertising, NOT circulation, for income.

If you don't want an attorney at least think like one and document everything you do, no matter how insignificant it seems to be.

I think New Jersey has an insurance commissioner, it doesn't cost anything to talk to them. Good Luck.

  2. Mark, hopefully the woman who hit you didn't swallow her cell phone.

Assuming you have an insurance commissioner you might want to contact their office, even though it is Gov. they might help.

IF that doesn't work you might want to think about hiring a lawyer. Insurance companies are only your friend when you are

paying them. Put on the heavy gloves now, they won't stop messing with you until they find out you're not going to put up

with it. Good luck and really sorry to hear about your car. And happy to hear you weren't seriously injured.

  3. Good luck with your project, it looks like big strides are being made. My Avanti is also gold with two tone tan and cream which I

think goes well with the exterior color. If you look around the SDC web site you can find all the interior colors and options. You

might want to check that out before picking a color for the interior. Good to see another happy Avanti owner. Keep posting pictures.

  4. B) Hi Gunslinger,

Thanks for your help, I called Summit and they recommended a # 4291 so I will check this out.

Hope to have brakes and/or horn soon. Expect to be in need of more help as well so appreciate

    your response. Jim

  5. The problem with original steering wheels is less their availability but more finding one in good condition. Those that become available go for big dollars. Those that are discolored, cracked, etc., are usually rebuildable by a specialist but are quite costly to do so.

Look at a Grant steering wheel catalog or their website. The adapter kits are still available from them as they will fit several cars from that era...Grant kit #4286. Some other brand steering wheels will work with Grant installation kits as well. There are some pretty nice steering wheels out there, and some that are quite cheesy looking as you said.

  6. Hello, I had no idea being a member of AOAI would be so helpful. Thanks.

This is my second post and I am looking for viable alternatives to the cheesey

aftermarket steering wheel that came on my 63. I would really like a factory

wheel but that is probably out of reach financially so I am open to suggestions.

    Thanks Jim
