  1. B) be carefull most covers are only half the repair, when i looked for one i took what i had found in copy to a auto interior shop and he said it woud be better to repair the original pattern, then tweek the replacement cover. as he pulled of the original he found the padding was made of straw or somthing, he need to toss the old broken down stuffing and replace with new moddern materials. the cost to repair was lil less. looked much better. john

    I'm a new member with  63 R1 # 2788.  It's a solid #2 car, but it has a few issues...(isn't there always?)

Is there a source for interior (seat) materiels or pre-sewn seat covers?  Also, carpet & trunk liner kits.

    Thanks

  2. WELL LAST NIGHT I WENT FOR A RIDE, AND I STALLED THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. AS I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND POPPED THE HOOD. I GAVE THE CARB A SHOT OF STARTING FLUID. JUST THEN I HERD BEHIND ME A LOUD SCREECH OF TIRES ON PAYMENT. I INVISIONED A CAR SMASHING INTO MY PRIDE A JOY AND TAKING ME OUT IN THE PROCESS. AS THE CAR PULLED ALONG SIDE ME HE YELD OUT. TURN ON YOUR !@#$%* FLASHERS. WITH OUT A SECOND TO RESPONED I REALIZED THAT MY BELOVED CAR DOESNT HAVE ANY EMERGENCY FLASHERS. DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A TECH ARTICAL ABOUT HOW TO RETO A EMERGENCY FLASHER SETUP INTO A 63 AVANTI. IT SEEMS SIMPLE TO PUT A FLASHER RELAY IN LINE WITH THE RUNNING LIGHT CIRCUIT. I AM NOT SURE THIS IS THE METHOD TO USE, BUT I CAN SEE THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR THE OLDER CARS, BORN BEFORE STD. EMERGENCY FLASHERS WHERE BUILT IN CARS.

    THANKS JOHN.

  3. B) i like what you have done. the wheels and rim look good. i have a 64 r2 in white, with a fawn and aqua interor. i also have been compiling as much info about wheels and tires and have overloaded. with the orignal rims still in great shape, weather to change to newer steal rims to fit newer radials and still use the original hubcaps, or go all the way with kit butt rims and tires. do you feel the 17" rims and tires gave the impovement you expected. john
  4. I am in agreement i posted one back in june, about a repacement steering wheel and had 89 hits with no responses. i too have spent many hours looking for clues and have findly found something just resently. GRANT makes an adaptor for studebaker avanti 62-65 and out of at least 100 differt types of wheels, i fould about 3 that will fit and not kill the integery of the car. keep positive, you are not alone. john
  5. I've had my 64 Avanti now for close to 20 years.  It has been completely restored just short of a frame off restoration.  Any idea what a fair asking price would be or where I can find what the going rate is for a pristine R-2?

    Thanks,

    J.

only what someone is willing to pay for it .. an avanti sold on barret jackson this year @ $17500 and to me it didnt look pristine. good luck, i hope it worth alot more, i know mine is to me.....
