  1. You can take the 4  9/16 hex head bolts out. leave the smaller 5/16 bolts in the center. they hold the inside brake brackets to the firewall. The nuts are captive, and you don't need to climb inside to hold the nuts. However, the washer bottle does have nuts underneath for you to be able to remove it without damage.

  2. If you want fool proof and great drivability, throw the cars in the trash, and put on a complete fuel injection system. I like the Holley Sniper systems.  Simple to install, and they work. Even the timing can be controlled by the system, and changed anytime you want from the drivers seat.

  3. If you up the RPMs, then lower RPM power suffers. Unless you can put variable cam timing like new cars, it will be undrivable around town.  All out race cars don't need to idle and take off from stoplights in heavy traffic.

The Stude engines were designed with high compression in mind. Up the compression, or use higher blower boost. un aviation fuel, and have fun and driveability.

  4. Yeah, there was some other things missing on cars over the years.  The last Daytona had a missing shift ball knob, and the Scepter has been shown without it's original triangular wheel covers. I think the fuel pump was "missing" on the R4.

  5. early impellers were magnesium and more desireable as they put less stress on the output shaft. Later versions the impeller was aluminum. If you do have an early magnesium version closely inspect it for corrosion and cracks. They are not as durable in the long run.

  6. Not correct. By the mid 70's manufacturers used NET figures, not GROSS figures in determining outputs. They were listed less than 1/2 of previous 60s figures.

For instance, Chevrolet lists the 76 400 as 175 hp, and 305 ft lbs of torque.

  7. They always forget to mention, the trunk access panel (inside) was given hinges instead of simple hooks so it doesn't come out over bumps any more. Also, NEVER mentioned is, the wiring harness clips under the hood are wider on 64 models.

  8. Most new speakers are 4 ohms. Stick with quality brands like Polk Audio, Infinity, and JBL. They should fit most budgets, and sound very good.

These look like 4" speakers. Most replacements that will fit are 3 1/2.  4" are hard to find and most jump to 4 1/4, 5 1/4 then 6" in the round sizes.
