The number on the housing is the casting number. For Studebakers, the part number is not necessarily the same as the casting number.
For replacement, the best you can do is find a good used one for sale. Being a Avanti only part, they are quite rare.
FWIW, the R1, R2, and R3 are the same part number.
Thanks. Great point.

Looking for water pump housing. The manual states part number is 1555739. The actual crack water pump housing is 1555738.
Any body knows the difference? Best source for replacement. Regards

Just pulled my fuel tank. Similar condition of sender. Had fuel tank cleaned and sealed at local radiator shop. Will install next week.
Did you take any steps for controlling noise before replacing tank? Dynamat or similar? etc

Thanks Gunslinger.

Let me know how it goes. I just pulled my fuel tank. Like you need to select new sender or go with existing.

Hello all,
Somewhat similar issue.
I have 63 Avanti. The car has been sitting outside and covered for the last 15 years. Just started working through the fuel system. When I pulled my rear seats to access the fuel tank and I noted the framing on the rear seats were rusted pretty bad. Should the rear seats be rebuilt and reupholstery or do I need to source replacement seats? Can they be found? Thanks.
