I spoke with Gary Steinkell who own's THE HORN WORKS, in WI. his email is carhorns22@charter.net... There is an informative page on his website, just type in THE HORN WORKS in your browser.
He is able to repair the twin nautilus shaped horns on my 64 Super Hawk, which I imagine is similar to my Avanti R2

this forum has provided me with lots of help and answers. the amazing fact of assisting each other is part of the joy of owning Studebakers. the attached photo is of last years "garage tour" at my home whereas club members arrive hungry waiting for a good time. Just another excuse to drive. We ended up with about 45 cars; maybe 4 additional Studebakers in the lot.

I sent you a PM with 4 photos, 2 of which are with a tape measure. I was unable to take photos from my android, to my gmail to you, seems tonight my tech skills are after hours.....off

FYI, just got a call back from the wife of the late Bill Randall, Bill passed away in August of this year. Speaking with his wife this morning, I got her permission to post this on the forum sites,
I am not sure if Bill was a Studebaker guy, but I had met him a few times in York PA at those Studebaker shows. As of now, she doesn't know of anyone doing repairs; which she volunteered at the end of our conversation.

give Dave Thibeault a call, he is a great source of information 978-897-3158

not sure of the article, but I do remember Jon Myers writing about soaking the entire cable in ATF to remove rust and loosen the wire within the cable
I did this on my 64 R2 during a frame off restoration years ago, still pulls easily

I have used very successfully VIP transport, call Jerry 704 622 7182 I transported my 63 GT Hawk; concours quality, from NJ to Ft Lauderdale Florida, delivered to Motor Car Gallery. They buy and sell and consign cars, they had secured garage storage that I am using when not at my condo which is on the water. Jerry is an owner operator with a huge clean transport.
He is reliable, on time and my car was delivered perfectly clean

I too ordered from C C Covers, expensive but seriously quality material.

That modification is beautiful and very clean. If not mistaken, I think Jon Myers has the brackets for that custom insert. Getting him on the phone is easy, take notes and maybe record his responses as he will talk you thoroughly through with detail and problems.

Gunslinger, I too have 2 NOS pair of glass for the 64R2. I was hoping for a better return. At least those who need them can acquire at an affordable price. I still think NOS will draw a bigger return.
BTW, hope all is well at your home.

easier to use a really good double sided tape.

I had Jon Myers rebuild mine a few years ago, was about $1,200 and lots of shipping costs. he waited until he had 6 or so, over the winter was best time. Probably a 2 month wait. Call Dave Thibeault or email him , fast and a great source of information and parts

Dave Thibeault is the way to go with inquiries. I have purchased two sets for my 64R2 Avanti and my 63GTHawk. They arrive from California; shipping is expensive, in very nice shape though the first set had thumb prints inside on the powder coating where the wheel is mounted

Call Dave Thibeault, he is amazingly resourceful

This will be a huge help, thanks so much especially for the pictures
