This one won’t be for everyone but I had to try out this krylon glass paint. I can always take the paint off but for now I like the hotwheels look it gives.
Also had to replace the starter. Oreillys gave me the wrong one but found what I needed at Napa. unfortunately I also discovered the freeze plug behind the starter is weeping so that will be next.LOVE the lights - and you didn't even use Lamin-x! The car with those lights would feel right at home in France before the Common Market or the EU made them discontinue the practice dating from after WWI I think.

The 08509 is described as 'medium-bodied'. I don't have the maint. manual anymore. I just remember (11 yrs ago) going by the instructions.

For the windshield I used 3M Black 051135 08509 automotive bedding & glazing compound 10oz cartridges.

I think I finally figured out (yeah I'm not all that smart) WHY the wipers move in the opposite direction to most cars (not counting right-handed cars). The 'gun sight' on the hood and to the windshield is In The Way of normal placement! Am I right?
Also, I swear the windshield is The Same as on the Hawks, for example. I know except for the 'gun sight' section. I can see Stuedebaker doing that to save $. And some of those Hawk stainless pillar covers sure look familiar!

Are you saying the windshield assembly "pops out" or the top stainless trim is popping out? I seem to recall some mention that not all of the windshield rubber gaskets are created equal - you may want to get the gasket from another source.
Also, my assumption is that you are installing according to the maintenance manual - using the 'Rope' method. It really takes 3 people to do this job. This installation (unlike some others) requires a liquid window sealant applied to the gasket area before install. Finally, I think I recall the use of a sudsy soap/water solution to Help seat the stainless trim better on the rubber gasket. From my experience I would pay attention to making sure the top of the assembly is all the way to the Top of the windshield opening.

To clarify - that web site did not have all the info on the Volvo. I must have read about it in one of my books. In fact Jaguar was approached by the production team and wasn't interested in supplying their New car the XK-E! One of the production team saw the P-1800 in a showroom and the rest was history. Jaguar learned it's lesson and supplied the XJ-S years later for "Return of the Saint"! btw - if I had a 3 car garage I would add a Jensen Interceptor Series 3 Saloon!😉

Ohhhhhhh - my two Dream Cars! btw-re The Saint - it's a long and interesting story about how Volvo got their car on the show (for FIVE years). www.saint.org
Also, I was a 'Pen Pal' of Leslie Charteris only child, his daughter who passed away last year. I found it interesting that she lived right across Lake Michigan from me!🙂

mfg - I've been meaning to say this - SLOW DOWN! In less than an hour you've posted 4 items! It gets difficult to keep up with you and Trivia. To all members I suggest you individually check each Forum Section (not just the 'latest' Post) unless you want to miss something! Don't stop though mfg - you keep this ship going!!!!😍

It looks like clear coat failure (?)

That 'bent' piece is actually the weatherstripping (I'm sure we cut it off before welding). I meant to add I really think this documented problem is really about no real waterproof seal (just the window rubber) that allows water in and freely gets behind the stainless steel pillar cover - needs extra sealing!!! 😑 Notice the sunroof drain line and power line sitting on roof. The pole is securing the roof.

I remember Paul. How could I forget that awesome '89! I gave my car to charity back in 2017. Noticed water on passenger side floor on the way back from the St. Louis meet back in '98? It had rained a lot then and I didn't think much of it. Later noticed leather on inside of pillar discolored. Finally realized I had a problem when I was forced to replace the heater core myself since no professionals were interested. Removed the dashboard (see my post under '87-'88 Forum) and broke the windshield - no professional window guys wanted that job either! Got my own window but THAT was when I realized I had a BAD pillar! A really nice guy on the SDC forum sold and shipped to me from CA a complete pillar assembly (cut for shipping). A surgeon/welder did the rest. btw I STILL have the drivers side pillar.

The weatherstrip itself is from (wait for it) Chevy Monte Carlo - the donor car!

As I recall - right in the middle in the back of the center console (behind dash) AND towards the right. If you take off the large carpeted piece below the dash on the passenger side you'll see some of it with a 'lever' (blend door) ALSO the computer is buried there!😐

Well, it can't be Las (Viva) Vegas.😬
