And I learned to drive and lost something in a 1961 Lark.
Did you ever find it?

As the show progressed, didn't Addison (the neighbor) update his '63 Avanti to a '64 'square light'?
Could be. Studebaker sponsored the show from '61-'63. Avantis were shown occasionally with various characters on the show. btw - The 'Post's' car was a Lark and on at least one show the Lark was pulling a horse trailer!🤪

I too cringe when someone slams the passenger door of my Avantis while exiting......
I think the guilty party expected the door to be heavier, so they use extra effort!
And this reminds me of the time - on the TV Show 'Mr. Ed' the neighbor pulled up to "Wilber's" front door with his Avanti (actually the car was already parked when the scene started) and got out of the car and closed the door with the GREATEST of ease. I noticed the Window was open/down!😂

I owned a '54, '61, and a really gorgeous '62...but no second generation cars.
Kinda jealous here - my first car was a 2.5 year old 1965 Barracuda (you know, a Valiant with a HUGE rear window). Was a 273 w 4 barrel & Hurst shifter though. Good car until some drunk with no job, no license and no insurance wrecked it with me in it!😒 Oh, and Yes it did like to 'Fishtail'.

I met him at his museum in Mequon, WI (Milwaukee). Really nice gentleman.

Reminds me of a story I heard about Brooks Stevens where he designed some doors to be interchangeable. He told me the Doors (on cars) were the most difficult item to design - can't recall if he meant the cost.........

Sorry, I believe the answer is FALSE..
The originals were made of die-cast 'potmetal'....The gorgeous new repros are made of chrome plated brass.
'potmetal' - like the rear tail light bezels🤐

In the meantime, if you want the window "UP" try grabbing that 1/4" exposed glass and pull Up while someone else operates the Up power window switch - worked for me (for awhile).
