  5. Our server has been very busy the past several days because of the huge response to Tuesday's Google "Doodle" that commemorated the 120th birthday of Raymond Loewy. All websites, including the AOAI's, that are related to Loewy have had huge increased in internet traffic. That causes the web servers to slow down in response.

  7. Try calling Nostalgic Motors in Wixom, Mich. for your seat tracks. 1-800-Avanti-X. Dan Booth has much of the parts you might need. He bought it all from the South Bend factory.

For the woodgraining on the interior panels, try contact Crin in southern Illinois, just east of St. Louis. contact him through his website.

He does great wood graining work. Also upholstery work too. We are having him finish up the seats and interior vinyl for a '64 Avanti.

  8. The California Automobile Museum (CAM) at 2200 Front Street, Sacramento, CA., on Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 pm, is hosting a special presentation titled “The Father of Industrial Design – Raymond Loewy”. The speaker is Bruce Marwick of the Art Deco Society. Included will be a documentary film titled “Looking Back to the Future”.

There will be a display of cars, buses and automotive literature reflecting some of Loewy’s vehicle design, including display of two restored vintage Greyhound buses designed by Loewy:

    1. 1938 Yellow Coach, to be on display for five days, from Sunday, May 12 through Thursday, May 16th inclusive – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (May 16 to 8:00 pm).

    2. Mid-1950s GM Scenicruiser, to be on display one day only, Thursday, May 16 – 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Attached is a CAM flyer concerning this event.

Bill Bourne, a volunteer docent at the California Automobile Museum, has been active in management of bus systems for the past sixty three (63) years, and have authored three articles on historical aspects of the bus industry – which explains how he became the point person to bring Loewy-designed buses to the museum.

We are attempting to notify members of the Pacific Bus Museum and the Greyhound Retired Employees Association to encourage their attendance. We welcome any other efforts to attract visitors.

Questions concerning the bus display may be addressed to his at my e-mail address, billbourne@teal.net

  9. Two questions,

#1. Will photos taken with an I-phone4 work?

    2. How do we submit them?

    Charlie RQB3921

NO, photos from any smartphone do not have the resolution needed for high-end printing and reproduction. Even if the resolution is high enough, the small sensors on these small cameras product more "digital noise" or graininess when enlarged or cropped.

You can send by email or, if too large of image files, use a file sharing application or website, or simply burn the files to a CD or flash drive and send through the post office.

  10. We already have a number of great photos for the 2014 Avanti calendar, but I am still looking for more great photos.

If you already had your car featured in a previous calendar, please do not respond, since I like to give everyone a chance to have their car featured.

Please respond to my email editor@aoai.org and let me know if you have something appropriate.

Digital images are acceptable, but should be 300dpi at about 2400 pixels or greater. Also need views of the engine compartment, interior or other unique features of your Avanti.

Thanks in advance to all those who already submitted a photo.

    Lew

Well, Kick me in --- . I totally missed it, read the write up and right above it is his name. Now I can hope he's a member of one of the forums.

Gotta hang it closer to the desk and upgrade my reading skills. Thanks Bruce
