Could this be the Newest Avanti Motors????

Thanks, I'll pass on the info. This car is more of a pain to get parts for than my 94 rx7....
What? There are 800 million (maybe not quite that many) 1987-1989 Chevy Caprices in the junk yard. So get parts!

Thanks, Jim. I hope I never need that info!

I replaced all four of my springs in 1993, when I purchased my 1989 Avanti with 55,000 miles. It has been a long time, but I remember that GM made five (5) different spring packages for the Caprice. (I'm guessing - V6, V8, Station wagon, Taxi, Squad.) I selected the middle springs.
The springs had to be cut about 1 1/2 coils because the Avanti sat too high with those springs.
The ride IS firm.
I'd check and see if there are any "progressive" springs available. That might be the perfect answer.

Last night was the monthly Chicagoland Avanti meeting. There was only two Avanti's there, a black Blake Avanti and my Cafaro.
I guess it is still too cold in Chicago!

Here's one from yahoo groups:
I stopped by the hardware store on my way home from work tonight. As I'm walking back out into the parking lot, what goes rumbling by... but an Avanti I'd never seen before ( the store is 3 or 4 miles from my home). He ends up parking a few spots down from my car ( the daily driver brand x). I talked with him briefly before he rushed into Safeway. It was a blue 83 with a superb looking creme interior. 21k original miles.
Why was this an "again?" About 5 or 6 years ago, when we lived in another town, I was walking out of another store just in time to see a gold 63 rumble by. he didn't stop, and I never saw the car again.

. My car is R5470 which was bought last summer from the second owner. This R2 is well documented as the first owner put on a Porsche grill on the front and a reverse hood scoop. Currently the car is in the shop having the grill and scoop removed and the body prepared for paint in the original color of Avanti maroon.

Thank you for making the Avanti beautful again!

My 1989 was "eating" batteries every 18 months. I now use the Battery Tender Plus and the Avanti is already ready. It is the best charger for the price, and is electronically safe!

Sometimes I get tied of those "same" questions and when people argue with me about the car, I reply:
"It was made by Studebaker, in Canada, by Italian immigrants, and has a Ford 289 V8!"
Gotta have fun with our cars!
