I have the instruction sheets for the 87 & 88 dash removal if anyone need it. I also have an electrical diagram suppled by the factory for 87 & 88 as printed by Avanti Motors.
Do you have electronic copies of both the dash removal sheet & electrical diagram you could share?

So Steve
How is that heater core working out after a year?
Where did you get those angle brackets?
Thanks
Heater core is in but it was a total pain in the butt. I had to grind & round off the bracket ends to get it to fit in the heater box. Angle brackets were from angle iron used for garage door track.

In my 77 we put a new Master cylinder out of a 67 Mercury Cyclone 390 with front disc brakes. Has worked flawlessly since 2016.

Take a pic of the Trans pan from underneath. If it's a GM it should look like 1 of these...

Yes, got it back yesterday and have had it out 3 times now with the top down. The 305 is awake now, not anywhere near the neck snapping spin the tires out of a dead stop something with more horsepower and torque would do, but it is now more fun to drive. The new 3:73 has increased the overall rpm's by a good bit, runs about 1,900/2,000 rpm at about 60ish. The speedo is off by about 30 mph reading high, but we ordered a speedo correction unit to adjust the overage and it should be here next week we hope. Not a big deal to install so that will then let me know for sure what speed I'm driving without having the phone GPS reading for me. I was all gung ho to pull that 305 and drop in a 350 or 383 to make the car more fun. With this gear change I might hold off and see if I really need that extra ummph.
Thanks for the summary...that's exactly what I was looking for. 3:73 it is!! Where are you getting the Speedo adjustment parts from?

OK just filled it from empty on my 1991 Conv. 16.5 gallons is all she will hold. So looking at how they constructed this tank it seems from what the factory design was they chopped quite a bit out of the capacity.
Have you had a chance to drive it with the new rear gear setup?

Really clean stealth look on a black car...nice!!

I think? it is the 700R4, but might be the 200R4, not sure, other than it is 4 speed auto. Seems I have a 2:28 rear open gear now, as we speak going with a 3:73 posi unit. I figured at first i was going to just replace the 305 and go with a 350, but got talked to do it in steps. Gear first and see how I like it and if need be, then new motor. Where we live the car is never run at high speeds, maybe 60ish is as fast as we run. Normally all town cruising. Do not care what amount of fuel it uses, fill it up when it gets low, almost never has the top up, so it is a fun convertible to beebop around town.
Very interested in your impressions when the 3:73 is in & you've driven it. I have an 87 w/the 305 & very mild gear (good mph but uninspiring acceleration). Seriously considering 3:55 & 3:73. Thx!

What motor is in your car? I have a 305 in my 1991 and am in the middle of switching rear axle gears for a bit more performance. Next step is motor work or motor replacement.
Do you have the 200r4 trans.? What gear ratio are you considering? Those that I've spoken with recommend 3.55 or 3.73 for a noticeable improvement in acceleration.

The 87 has a unique filler neck that differs from the Monte Carlo radiator. Your best course of action is to have the original re-cored/rebuilt/welded by a reputable shop.

Good to know. Thx!!

Happy New Year All!!
Does anyone know of any vendors that carry polyurethane bushings for the upper & lower control arms? I've only been able to locate plain rubber at Studebaker International. My Avanti is a 77. Thx!!

FWIW...I replaced the master cylinder on my 77 with a rebuilt unit from Rock auto. It was a perfect fit & cross referenced from a 67 Ford Cyclone with a 390 & front disc brakes. No issues in 5 years.

It's normally $45 @ O'Reilly's but they price matched Summit's current sale which is $38.99 💰
