  1. Thanks for the quick reply....the gauges work fine, they flicker randomly, not in sync with each other, driving or stopped at a traffic light does not matter they still flicker.

I will check out the diagrams you sent,

     Thank You,

  2. Hello, Ihave a question about my dash gauges, I own a 1978 Avanti and have had it for 3 years, just this past week, when driving at nite the dash gauges, AMP.

TACH. and Fuel, start to flicker, just those three. Is there a common ground that connects just to those three gauges that could be the issue, or something else ??

    Thanks for any help,

  3. Hello, I have read somewhere, cannot remember where, about the trick to get into the trunk if the pull cable breaks, but do not know if there is also a trick to open the hood if that pull cable breaks.

Does anyone have any knowledge of a trick to open the hood in case the pull cable fails?

Another question, the gas tank over flow line that comes up on the passenger side in the engine compartment and lays on the inner fender well, mine has a rubber hose that is cut off there, where / what is it supposed to be attached to ??

Thanks for any info that will help,

  4. Hello, I also have the same issue as Steve, on my '78 Avanti II. I Fill the tank and it only reads a bit over 1/2 or 3/4 but never full, gauge flutters radically when driving. Is there 2 problems or just one ?  Gunslinger..the fuel sending units on both your Avanti's cured what issue ? The fuel gauge not reading the correct amount of fuel in the tank or the fluttering gas gauge , or both ?

I will try the method Mr. Wood is suggesting to determine which one, gauge or sending unit, is at fault. It seems to me that there are 2 separate issues here, 1- gas gauge not reading fuel level accurately and  2- the flutter of the gauge needle when the car is moving. Does anyone know if it is one or two problems ?

After some research and asking a few automotive inclined friends, we found this site that has an electronic fix to eliminate the gas gauge flutter. If / After I can find out if this is one or two issues I can proceed with the correct fix.

Here is the website I found...... This product is also sold on E-BAY,  SN34

Just received the latest email issue of AVANTI MAGAZINE (issue 193)...I notice that when I tried to look at the digital version it only let me see the first 4 pages. If I wanted to see the full version I had to pay $30.99. The email said the digital form was free. (The Avanti Owners Association International made our quarterly magazine available in digital form to all current members at NO ADDITIONAL COST.) Is this an error or something new?
