I need a photo of the hood latch from a Mustang based 2006 or 2007. Mine had broken off and I cant remember if the long leg of the latch goes to the front or the back. Also what have you done to make this latch stronger? It seems to be a common problem of this latch breaking.
Thanks for any help.

Talked to him last night. Got 4 of them on the way. He said he did not have many left.

My body # is 4028. Don Linder of the Avanti House has body #4027 and the other gray one for sale was body #4026.

The GT has the new style logo but I have not seen it used on any other car from the mid 80's. I know my car was not completed when it left the factory and was brought back to the states. I was told they took all the parts they could find to complete them once they were back so I am not surprised the logo were gone.
I am working with a local tech high school to have some 3D printed out of ABS and will have them chromed. I am have them make a few and offer them up with proceeds going back to the school.

Thanks, Still looking for anybody that has photo's of the build or after that aren't on the internet. Looking for more interior and rear end photos.

Built in 1984 but officially called an 1985 1/2 by Avanti. I have it titled at an 1984.

The 85 Avanti GT is now safe and sound in South Bend and I am starting the transformation of the car back to the way it was at Mid-Ohio. Talking to Herb Adams a few weeks ago I found out nothing was standard on this car. It was a test bed so it was always changing so I am going to do my best to get it back to how it was at that time.
I did find out the 5.0 engine was the correct (or original) to the car because Herb said it was under powered, but Kelly had AC added to the car. We are removing that. I am going to replace the breaks back to the original Corvette C4 units and I want to replace the seats and add the roll cage. Any idea of the type of seats and roll cage I should use?
Any photos that are NOT on the internet would be helpful.
This is going to be my winter project and I want the car ready for the International in May.
I will be posting photos as we go.
I welcome input.
Thanks

The article is sponsored by Hagerty so that is where they got the information.

Have you checked to see if there any gaps in the back of the headlight unit? Is the headlight seated in the opening without gaps? I would look at that first.
-
Found a local shop that is going to repair the seats for under $250 each. They will get it done much faster then I could.
Thanks for all your help.

Thank You James, I want to keep the original seats since we are restoring the car so I need all the restoration parts I can get. Unless you have an idea of a seat model #. I could use a new frame and install the original seat cover on. Possible?
-
Looking for replacement foam and parts for the Recaro seats in my 84. Need new foam (I can feel the frame when I set) and the seat will not lock in place.
Any good resources?
Thanks

I am looking for 2 new or good used 2000 + Avanti logos to put on the front and back of the 2007. The only ones at Studebaker International are the original with the lager V.
If I can't find any does anybody know of a good 3D printing company that can cut them for me?
Thank for any help you can give.

I was going to tap a larger hole but the entire puller thread left of the bolt is missing and the prongs that grab from the back are to big to get behind the wheel. I might try the glue a new thread into the hole and let it set before I try it again. Any thought on that working?
Thanks.

Any tips on removing my steering wheel. I have the puller but one of the screw holes i need to remove the wheel is missing (just a hole with no threads) and there is not enough room on the back side of the wheel hub to get the attachments that would pull from there.
Don't want to damage the wheel because it is going in as a core exchange.
Thanks

He wants $15,000 for it or will trade for something else. All depends on if someone is willing to invest another $10,000 or more to fix this car. I have seen several 2000's without the Avanti name plate. Mine does not have one because it was one of the ones that was sitting on the production floor when the plant got shut down so there are still some items to complete.
-
If you look at his posting on the Avanti Group Facebook page he seem very defensive when someone asks a questions or makes a comment. I also feel the same way about my 07. Would all be custom body work and not many know how to do that.

Everybody, THANK YOU for all your help. Turns out it was a wire to the high beam switch that was loose. Headlamps are working fine.

It is one of the 2007 gray convertible's. The 2006 coupe has sold and the other 2 2007 convertible's are being sold to a guy in Florida. Mine has 192 miles on it. Hate to put more miles on it but what good would it be to own a car and not drive it some. I bought a car and not a think to hide from the world.
I only live 12 miles from where he had them stored and it is now back in South Bend along with the 1984 Avanti GT.
That is what I was thinking about the badging. I want people to kinda know what it is.

Kelly Avanti Owners (all others who want to weight in), I have just acquired one of the last Avnati's made. This car was on the plant floor the day the company was shut down in 2006 and it took over a year for it to leave the factory. I am told there were 7 cars left on the floor. Two were given to people in Mexico, and four were given to Mike Kelly's nephew who work at the plant and had a claim for back pay. Most of the car were almost complete except for 1 (a 6 cylinder).
My car was complete but it does not have the Avanti badging on the front or back and in the inset in the rims the back have Avanti badging and the fronts have Mustang badging.
My question - Should I put the Avanti badges on the car and the rims or should I leave it the way it left the factory?

I will check the dimmer switch but I know the brights did not work. The more I read the more I'm thinking I have a ground problem but that would just be my wild guess.
-
I was wrong about what was and was not working. The parking lights and turn signals work but when I turn the headlight on the front parking lights go off and the headlight won't come on but the taillights work fine.
Could that be the relay?
-
After taking my 63 Avanti out of winter storage I found the headlights and taillights have stopped working. I think it could be the fuse but I would like to know if there are any other items I should look at?
Any input would be helpful.
Thanks

Wrong name used
What about Mike Baker? He may do that or knows somebody who does.
