Gary my friend.....believe me, if YOU had come up with the majority of the 1,045 questions which have been posted here on AVANTI TRIVIA, YOU would be 'picking nits' too!
Now, instead of complaining, how about posting a few good trivia questions of your own?
Not "complaining" at all, just making an observation. In general, I enjoy them (or I would just ignore them).
You did not HAVE to come up with the majority of the questions. I believe that you enjoy it.
I have posted one or two and will post others when I think of things that would make a good trivia question.
-
I will say true since there are no "1964 Studebaker Larks", except for the few early Standard models. I know this is nit picking, but many of your questions boil down to that.
With that aside, I will say true because they call for a different part number.

John was a good guy and a good designer.
He confirmed to me that the Avanti team used the two top designs of the time - 1961 Jaguar E Type and 1961 Continental.

I think that it was sent to engineering for some type of correction, change or evaluation. If it was sold to someone in engineering, I believe that it would say "sold - rush" and perhaps an individual's name along with a location of a storage lot in South Bend and "prep for retail delivery".

Perhaps you are referring to when the fuel system can not deliver enough fuel for the conditions/rpm that the engine is being run at. I have experienced this in a Packard Hawk (similar to an Avanti R2). My solution was to install an electric fuel pump in the rear. Studebaker issued a Service Letter/Bulletin covering this problem and instructing that an electric pump be added.

OK. So wouldn't the wording of your question make the answer true? Or do you mean the Avanti fan WILL fit the Lark (but it wouldn't be correct)... Even so, the Lark fan still does NOT fit the Avanti.
I'm confused, which is not hard to do lately.
I agree that "the wording of the question" makes the answer true. Also, don't be alarmed at being "confused". The wording of some of the questions lends itself to that.

I don't know Gary,....Studebaker threw some chrome at their 1957 President and called it a '1957 Packard'.....but to most of us it was still a 1957 Studebaker!
Not to me and don't forget the superchargers that they also "threw" on all of the 1957 Packards.
Strange - I just remembered that I have owned several 1957 Studebakers and no 1957 Packards and one 1958 Packard and no 1958 Studebakers.

I don't know where it is now, but it started out in Ohio. How are the torque boxes and frame?
-
You guys are SHARP!!!!!!,....but the answer here would be FALSE....simply because it/they were originally called the 'Studebaker XUV'...not the 'Avanti XUV'.
I still think that it is false, but not for the reason that you state. IIRC, the first one was called a Studebaker. That was changed to Avanti and the second and third ones would be Avantis.
-
I thought of the name game part of it before I answered. The SUV was originally a Studebaker, but changed to an Avanti after complaints. My answer was reflective of the SUV models in general, no matter their name.
-
I think that we are into semantics, again, here. Obviously, the Avanti is not "out of gas" if "the fuel tank is half full". The Avanti may not run or fuel may not reach the engine, but that is something else than being "out of gas".
Please try wording your question in a different manner.

False
There were three XUV prototypes. They may not have all been completed. I have seen two in one picture.
There were plans for XUV and XUT models.

A reservoir is a receptacle for fluid, so a sump would be a special type of reservoir. Or, all sumps are reservoirs, but not all reservoirs are sumps.
-
Thanks for the correction and information.
Please do not assume that I have all of the correct answers. I know that there is much that I do not know about Avantis. In general, I just answer here and on the SDC Forum with what is in my head and is retrievable at the moment. .

They are the same diameter, but for some reason I was thinking that the working area (lining width) was different.
-
False
-
I will say false, since ISTR that they made up to three stops in a day.

In the obituaries in today's Poughkeepsie Journal, there is a man's obituary, that includes among his survivors, "...his great nieces and nephews, Heather, Dawn, Heidi, Bob and Avanti as well as their children..."
I have never known of anyone with a first name of Avanti. Have any of you? Is Avanti a female, male or unisex (as many are now) person's name?
-
I believe that the SDC Director for the Southeast Zone still has the 1963 Avanti that he bought new.
I also believe that the first square headlight Avanti sold to the public is still with its original owners, but that would be a 1964 model.
-
My gosh FIFTY YEARS!!!!.....That is REALLY incredible!......Can anyone out ther beat Regnalbob?? (I highly doubt it!)
Probably not on this AOAI Forum, but I believe that there are still some original owners of 1963-1964 Avantis out there (the last that I knew).
-
True
-
I will say True. I think that it was after the 1987 model year when a supercharged Avanti was built (I didn't look it up, but that is what my memory says).
-
I would think that it has two blowers (squirrel cage variety) driven by one motor and no fans.
-
There were no traffic accidents which effected the 'Sears Studebaker' Avanti cross country run........True?
If you really mean affected, I would say that the Avanti was not in an accident, but may have been delayed by someone else's accident.
Engines
in Avanti Trivia
Posted
All Avanti automobiles were ORIGINALLY ( I know of conversions to 4 and 6 cylinder engines) powered by V8 engines - true or false (with information/explanation)?
