I believe that all of the Sears Allstate tire Avantis were 1964 models. I owned one of them that was built in a run of nine (?), all with the same equipment and colors.
I agree that the Atlas tires are aftermarket and not original to 1963 Avantis.

They were really forward thinkng. The 1981 Avanti is pictured at a 1978 auto show.
However, I am glad that any Avanti was used.

Do any of you know what this Avanti sold for on eBay or was the auction pulled in the last day? The last that I knew, it was at $5100, but still had a day or two to run.
-
Donald Kelly's 6 speed coupe originally sold for $25,100. It was 13,000 miles. It was peddeled by a flipper after that, might have sold for $28K.
Alice Coopers 2007 convertible sold for $24,700 with 20000 miles
The damage on the passenger front extended into the engine bay. There was popped fiberglass there with missing filler. This image was on the craigslist ad but not the eBay ad.
Dad got some more pictures of the back from the guy- look at how much filler the factory put on these cars!
I thought it was a 4-6K car but who knows!
I do not believe that the pictures are showing a large amount of "filler". You are looking at the thickness of the broken fiberglass panel that makes up the "overlay" for a fender, etc.

In case you haven't discovered it, this Avanti is now on eBay at no reserve. The last that I looked it was at $5000 with three days to go.
I was interested, but the salvage title makes a lot of difficulty here in New York State, including transporting it out of county for a state inspection of the car. Also, I do not have a place to work on it now and my friend's body shop does not work on fiberglass or carbon fiber bodies.
By the time that I figured shipping and repair in on a car with a salvage title, $5000 was about the most that I would go to buy the car.
-
I notice that it does not have "Avanti" nameplates front or rear.
I am thinking that the insurance company, either his or the other guy's, considered the car to be a total loss. This does not mean that it can not be repaired. I think that the value/settlement may have hinged on how it was insured/titled. If it was just considered to be a 2002 Pontiac, that damage would total it out. Of course, if it was totaled, it most likely has a salvage title now.
I believe that the price has been reduced. I remember it at $20K and now I see it is at $15K OBO. (Perhaps I have confused ads.)

Avanti Fred - I am much older than you are and agree with what you posted. What I replied to was when the OP stated that his headlights and tail lights did not work.
-
My opinion is that you should put all of the appropriate badges/nameplates on the car to complete the build.
Is your Avanti a 2006 or 2007 and is it a convertible or a coupe? Is it one of the four that have been for sale since last year? I made an offer on one and never heard back.

I doubt that you have a "fuse" in that circuit. It may be the circuit breaker, but is more likely the headlight switch.
Of course, it could be other things like rodent eaten wires or bad grounds.
Use a simple meter to check where you have power and where you do not have power. This will isolate the problem area.

Thanks, the price did not show up for me when I clicked on the link. Perhaps one has to be registered with them to get the price. I know that some sites work that way (I believe that Mecum does).
-
Keep in mind that you may be comparing "apples and oranges". You asked about Studebaker Avantis and Bob J's site tracks all Avantis (1963-2007).
-
The price that it sold for does not appear (at least for me).
I did see two Studebakers at that auction and did not see the final sale/price for either.
-
It may not apply where you live, but most states with a vehicle inspection will not pass the vehicle if the air pump has been removed. Think about the future when you may want to sell the car.
-
The description leads me to believe that the parts are for an earlier convertible (Ohio, not Georgia).
-
The 1990 four door sedans also used Kevlar.
-
Yes, Bob Johnstone's roster and AOAI's roster (only two in my old roster) are by Serial Number.
None of the 17 were four doors. All 1990s were four doors and all 1991s were convertibles.
I have seen at least one 1991 in the Kevlar.
-
I have heard this seven number for 1991 production before. I do not know what it is based on. The old numbers that I have show 15. More recently, I believe that the production number of 1991s is 17. There were two that were left over sales. John Hull's most recent book also shows the number as 17. There are more than seven shown as still existing in current rosters. I have seen a 1991. They are very different than a 1989.

I do not believe so. The paint problems came about with changes made by Blake. Blake Avantis started with 1983 models.
-
Regnalbob has the correct answer (what I was looking for).
Gunslinger wuld have been correct if he just stopped at the 1970 model year and didn't incorrectly qualify his answer with the change from RQA to RQB.
-
Another 24 hours and no new inputs (after my clue).
-
CLUE: The first break in S/N's was only one number missing.
-
I think that the RBQ series started with 1501, but that is not the answer that I am looking for.
The move to Youngstown during the 1987 model year did not create a break in S/N's.
-
What model year did Avanti Motors depart from using a continuous run of Serial Numbers that started with -0001 in 1965?
-
This causes me to question your original trivia question and your answer. If RQB3650, used as a prototype, was just one Avanti and not the beginning of the series/run that used the Avanti script gauges, it was NOT when Avanti "switched" over to these gauges.

I see two ways to solve this annoyance.
1) Sell the car.
2) Modify the car to sit to your liking.
