Thank you! It is all there... bought it from the son of the deceased owner. They are old Appliance Plating mags, I had forgotten about that brand.
I have the build sheet as well as the original window sticker. It was Avanti Gold and Elk interior. My least favorite color!
Agreed on the Gold/ Elk combo...Same as my '63...Which I changed to 'Avanti Turquoise' thirty years ago!!

The firewall mounted brake fluid reservoir used on '63-'64 GT Hawk's equipped with Avanti style disc brakes was first introduced as an option on Stude passenger cars in..
1) 1953....2) 1956....or.....3) 1961

Can anyone name two negatives in an R2 Studebaker Avanti's supercharger system.... which were later corrected in the R3 Avanti supercharger system
-
Let me know if it's 'UNCLE' time!!!

REPEAT HINT!... BOTH R1 and R2 Avanti engines have these items....but these items are NEVER utilized on the R1!

Boost line running to top of fuel pump on R2 might be one?
Sorry no.... As R1's were not equipped with that R2 boost line.

Congrats!!... looks like it has great 'bones'!!!

I think he drove an Avanti.
Yep!...I believe he was shown driving a 'round light', and later on in the series a 'square light'.....
SPORTY GUY!!!

Paul...an R1 engine would operate the same without its oil dipstick in place...but an oil dipstick was part of the original package!!!
-

But they sure don't make any difference in how the engine runs (the engine will have proper operation even if you take the chrome plating off the parts and paint them). 🙂
Yes, the engine would operate the same...however the assumption here is that we are speaking of a complete 'as built by Studebaker' Avanti R1 engine...The chrome parts were part of that package.

Ok, let's try this. The vacuum/boost gauge, which is hooked to the engine -- the boost side of the gauge does nothing on a R1.
Sorry no, that's an interior item!

So, if the original style has NOT been reproduced, then your original question you posed is TRUE (like I said)!
Yes, sorry Paul..sick this week!!!

Yes, there are a few different solutions for sealing the accelerator pump shaft on an R2...however, according to a very well respected Avanti carb rebuilder (NOT ME!!) the original seal has not been reproduced....Ed

HINT!... Found on both R1 & R2 engines...but not used on the R1's!

I’m sure this isn’t it but maybe the throttle kicker and ignition shielding on a radio delete car?
Hmmm....Good point on a rare radio delete Avanti...however, I'm speaking of the "normal" radio equipped R1 Stude Avanti.

I thought the R2 seal was the same as the Edelbrock marine carb seal.
No, it's not.

I'll take a shot at this and say true, since I would think that the current offerings (for example: https://avantiparts.biz/accelerator-pump-seal-r-2-avanti-lark-hawk/) are of a better design and material.
However not original...the answer here is FALSE!

Chrome on the valve covers, chrome on the valley cover, chrome on the engine oil dipstick, chrome on the air cleaner, chrome on the oil filler caps. Is this the stuff you mean?
Sorry no, the chrome helps present the engine as an Avanti R1....Part of the package.

On the Mr. Ed TV show, what was the name of the character who was occasionally seen driving a Studebaker Avanti?
-
Name two features found on a Studebaker Avanti R1 engine which are non- essential for the proper operation of the engine.
-
The original factory accelerator pump seal (for Studebaker Avanti R2 carbs) has not been reproduced....True?

I actually kinda like the wheels. Oldsmobile, aren't they? Looks like you already had them on the car before you sold it, 20 years ago. Unless you're planning on a restoration, I'd leave em on there. I've had dreams where I re-acquired a car I'd previously owned... Think it's fantastic that you got yours back.
I also had dreams like that...Then it happened!... I re-aquired a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk in 2021, which I originally purchased in 1968 and sold in 1980.

Yes, the short block was rebuilt many years ago, but the heads were not done. The last owner had someone do the heads that did not do a good job. Now they are done correctly. new valves, new guides. bronze inserts in the guides, and surfaced the gasket surface .003.
Understood...thanks!

Can anyone name two differences between the Studebaker Lark/Hawk R2 carb bonnet and the Stude Avanti R2 carb bonnet?
