  1. Hi Ed!

You had some interesting R3 trivia questions. I was wondering if you know of a "complete" source of R3 knowledge you could recommend? I've heard that the heads used on R3's were originally developed for an undeveloped 340 CU V-8 engine. Any truth to that? I guess I'm hoping someone has already pulled this information together somewhere.

    Any thoughts?

    Mark

Hi Mark, Those R3-4 engines are certainly intriguing!....The one person I know with a wealth of knowledge about those engines is Studebaker parts vendor David Thibeault...He's built a few, and as far as I know he still owns one.....Good guy, prefers phone calls over emails...His tel # is 978 897 3158 (before 7PM  EST.)....Take care,  Ed

Good! His hands have been on my car!!!! Bob Munter tells me I have an R3 engine block but that's where the fantasy ends, sort of. I'm calling it my poor man's R3. This is becoming literally true with the repairs being made.....
