While re-doing upholstery, I discovered that the driver armrest has deteriorated. Hopefully, someone has one to spare. Plan B is to make one out of fiberglass using the bad one as a mold.

Working on interior R5408. Ordered new panels from Ernie Loga. Ernie shipped 2 lower panels and 1 upper for a total of 3 pieces per side. My Avanti only has 2 pieces, lower and upper. Does anyone know if this was a late change, maybe when they changed the rear quarter window latch? Ernie is sending the 2 piece similar to what I have. FWIW, R5408 was shipped in December.
Just trying to get it right.

Those appear to be the side marker lights. The ones I am looking for are the parking/turn signal lights on the front of the car.

Thanks, I will call her Monday.

My upholstery lady has done 5 or 6 sets for me, and even the ones that were judged at Amelia island.
Can you share the info about your upholstery lady? Sounds like a good source since I am looking for upholstery for a 64.

I am looking for a usable pair of parking light housings for my 64. I believe they are the same up to 84 or so. I have purchased a pair of the bronze repops from Dan Booth, but would prefer OEM.

The 61 block will be partial flow oil filtering and your block is full flow.
What is wrong with your block? Many issues can be repaired.

The flat end goes down. On original springs, there are 2 notches in the flat ends.

Checked parts car today and it is missing. I likely removed it for some reason and put it some where safe. It will be a couple of days until I cam get into my shop where I store spare parts. Will keep you posted.

I think I have one from a 78. If I find it, it is yours for postage. I owe you a favor anyway. Will look tomorrow.

If you get the production order from the Studebaker museum, that may provide original owner - at least the destination. Additionally, Dan Booth at Nostalgic may have the "born" documents for that serial number.

There was a post on this forum indicating that R4330 was originally equipped with 3spd trans. Also, Bob Johnstone's web site indicates previous owners. ,Sam Nardo Erie PA. And before that from Port Angeles WA. Engine #R2914 and body #RQ3368.

The threaded hole is used to mount the junction for the brake lines. The one lower down is the breather. I usually stick a small nail in the breather so it doesn't get covered when painted.

In order to do a conversion, you would need to fabricate the steel frame for both the seat bottoms and top. The horseshoe shaped filler panels are made out of a material similar to Styrofoam. You could likely achieve the same result with upholstery foam.
As far as upholstery goes, the seat backs are 3 piece instead of the single piece. When I get home in couple of weeks, I will post pictures of the later seat back upholstery.

Seems typical of British sports cars. In the 70s, my daily driver was a 58 MGA. Had to work on it all weekend to get to work the rest of the week. My roommate had a GT6. Similar deal. Later, My 1st wife bought a 74 Spitfire. When we got rid of it 15 years later, it only had 40,000 miles on it. Every time it broke, I let it sit until I got around to fixing it. All were fun to drive when running however.

The R1 non-supercharged engine was rated at 240 h.p. with standard 10.25:1 heads. The R2 supercharged engine was rated at 289 h.p.

Check under the rear seat. Studebaker Avanti's had a hole in the floor. Later ones may have one as well. Don't know why, so I just seal it with some hvac tape.

Could be. I was looking at a picture of the tag which says AS2-10.
In any case, it is the "small ford" case.

IIRC, it is a Borg Warner type 10. Very similar to Ford O Matic and auto trans used in AMC cars.

If you have the stock air cleaner, the engine gets air via the gap between the base plate and cover. That air goes through the filter into the carb. The air hose from the oil pan is the part of the PCV system that scavenges crankcase gasses. This is very similar to PCV systems on other makes and years. The other part of the PCV system is a much smaller hose that connects to a valve at the base of the carb. All very well engineered. Adding additional fresh air to the system does no harm as the engine will only use as much as it needs.

The "breathing from the oil pan" is part of the PCV system.

I would change out the 6 blade fan. I tried one on my 64 and the noise was unbearable. Went back to stock 5 blade. Problem solved.
-
FWIW, the standard fan, with or without A/C, is 5 blades.
