  1. Don't know if this is what you are looking for, but for engines after number R1220 and RS1259, there was a second type introduced. The second type had some bushings and a sleeve. I assume it was to solve the rattle issue.

Not sure where you came up with the "426 Hemi" only info?

My friend's '69 Dodge Daytona has that same brake booster, and it's powered by a 440 Magnum.

This bit of info came from an answer to a trivia question on this forum. FWIW, the poster goes by lschuc and confirmed by mfg.

In any case,  it is good to know that we do not need to spend a lot of money getting the Avanti boosters rebuilt.

While poking my head underneath yesterday I noted a portion of the frame that I will need to build back the bottom plate.    Luckily the son knows how to wield.

Sounds like good progress. Just be aware of scope creep. After all, you only have 2 months to work on it.

  4. The one Lew posted looks similar to the one used on Stude Avanti and early Avanti II. The one in the picture on Bob's site looks like one used on later Avanti.

As near as I can tell, the ones that fit the mopar b bodies are 8". The ones for the Avanti and Hemi mopars are 8 3/4". Both are dual diaphram. If it fits, the 8" may give a little less boost, but should work. Would be interesting to find out as they are readily available from several sources such as Pirate Jack and Summit.

  5. Many years ago I ordered a set of pistons from Studebaker International.  They were manufactured in Taiwan, not the Republic of China, by JCP. JCP has an excellent reputation.  I do not know if S.I. still has JCP make them.

I have also used sets of Silvolite pistons made in the good Ole USA. Both  JCP and Silvolite are holding up well.

  6. R2+ is similar to the Isky ST5. A little more lift, overlap and duration compared to stock. If you have an automatic transmission, it may be a little doggy at the start. I am using ST5 in my 64 R1. I have 4spd and 3.54 axle ratio. I have .060 overbore, zero decked block and about .040 squish with flat top pistons. It starts off a little slow, but really takes off around 2500 rpm.

The R2+ grind is available from most vendors supplying camshafts. I have also heard that Isky can still grind the ST5. You do need to provide your existing cam as a core since new cores are no longer available.

  7. Can't tell much from those pictures.  Avantis used Dana 44, however, Avantis had mounts for traction bars welded on. If this axle is from a GT, you could weld on the traction bar mounts and used on an Avanti.

  8. How about $100. There is one on ebay in Dover that wants  $150 + 27.95 for shipping. He does state that the terminal is loose. I do not know if he tested it.

I does fit in a large flat rate box. I will need to reinforce the box, but it will still be under 70 lbs. USPS wants $22.80.

FWIW, R4551 was assembled in May and does have the MDU 7026 starter. Your Avanti would have been assembled after that and should have gotten the MDY starter.

If you do paypal or zelle, that would work for payment. I will message you with details, and you can get me your address.

I have attached a couple of pictures. It needs a little cleaning and paint. The drive teeth look to be in good condition.20230213_163913_001.thumb.jpg.eba039f43b7d3ecb75fdc49c24b44601.jpg20230213_163941.thumb.jpg.2abb33e8b0d0d5feef1841902dc2f2ed.jpg
