Oddly Studebaker Avanti EX2947 was the only prototype Avanti re-serialed to indicate it was of 1963 production car status.....True?

That depends on interpretation of your statement.  EX2947 became 63RX9 and then became R5650.  I guess that one way of interpreting your statement it would be True, since it got a 63R number before it got an R number.

The production order (first page) for R5650 indicates serial number of 63R 5650..................and note on the bottom of page one of the production order it says 'Converted to "63" Production Car Serial No: 63R-5650'.

Now, whether this was the ONLY Avanti EX car converted to '63 production I'm not sure, these are the only copies of production orders I had. Just adding pertinent information :)

It is odd that it got the "63R" number since the 63 was dropped from the Serial Numbers long before 5650.

I guess that they were optimistic and/or psychic.  The production order was written in "64"and built in "62"
