Rare 1988 Avanti Silver Anniversary LSC for sale (VIN # 12AAV3240J1000318)

In April of 1986, Michael Kelly formed the "New Avanti Motor Corporation" in South Bend, Indiana. Avanti production moved to Youngstown, Ohio in the fall of 1987. Rumors of a Special 1988 Silver Anniversary edition were circulating by November. This would become the third commemorative version of the Avanti (first was the 1983 20th Anniversary car and the second was the 1984 Avanti Touring Coupe, both Stevens Blake's idea).

Twenty-five cars were planned, then 50, but ultimately 27 Silver Anniversary Coupes were built, 2 red prototypes, (#1 became Michael Kelly's and # 2 went to co-owner, John J. Cafaro) and 25 white production models.  This car is Serial Number 18 of 27 production model 25th Anniversary LSC.

A limited edition 25th anniversary LSC is a stretched version of the standard Avanti. This cars wheelbase is 116" vs standard Avanti wheelbase of 108".  Mike Kelly's signature is on the black leather wrapped steering wheel and on the Limited Edition 25th Anniversary plate mounted to the dash board. The fiberglass body sits on a modified Chevy Monte Carlo chassis and includes a Chevy HO engine, drivetrain, suspension, and brake components. The engine is a 305 CID V8 including a Paxton Supercharger installed at the Avanti factory as OEM equipment. This car has custom white pearlized paint, blackout trim, premium Corvette aluminum wheels, and styled front and rear bumpers.

Instruments include Speedo, Tach, engine temp, voltage, vacuum, oil pressure, Supercharger boost, and fuel level.

Also included:  tilt wheel, burled wood dash, shifter console, and rear seat trim.  Integral built in roll bar, power glass moon roof, power windows, six-way power driver and passenger seats, side power mirrors, power locks, power trunk release, locking gas cap access door, cruise control, A/C (134), power steering, halogen driving lights, rear window defog, electric radio antenna, Trip Computer system, all leather seats, leather dash and leather center console glove box, leather door panels, headliner, rear tray and seat back map pockets. Exhaust is 2.5" diameter stainless steel with dual port chrome exhaust tips. Original owner manual is included.

This car has been in storage for almost fifteen years but runs like a champ.  She needs some tender loving care but is a joy to drive.  Contact me for additional information.

Hi, I know it has been a while since you posted your car. I'm looking for some information on your year of Avanti. I read that there was a new chassis designed and built using an '85 Corvette rear end and a torque tube. Do you know more about this or point me to where I can find more info? Please and thank you in advance for any help.

Best,

Wayne
