Automatic Transmission Swap

I am sure that this is NOT new, but I am new to the forum.. I am involved in a frame off restoration of my 63 Avanti. I have the std 3 speed Auto and want to swap in a 4 speed Auto. Any hints, ideas, and stories on how you did it, as well as what you swapped in, would be helpful. Thanks in advance,

I haven't done this with the Studebaker engine, but you'll need an adapter to use a GM tranny and the Stude V8. I would contact Michael Myer at Myer's Studebaker as he sells an adapter he machines himself. He can tell you everything involved in such a swap.

The best and most common, if not the only swap, is to a GM 200R4 or 700R4 overdrive automatic. There's advantages to each. Talk to Mike before making up your mind.
