The Ashtabula plant was built by Rockwell International in 1959. . . . made unsaturated polyester resins used in car parts, boats, shower stalls and sink tops.  Ashland Chemical Inc., bought it from Rockwell in 1979 and operated it until 2000 when production ceased.
