1964 Avanti R-2 no acceleration where to start?

Fuel and spark is where I'd start. If it runs well other than slow acceleration be sure you have the float bowl full and the boost reference to the fuel pump connected.

Usually, I start with the distributor. Check to see if you have advance and basic timing. Use a timing light.

If spark check out it's probably fuel delivery under load, weak pump - air getting into fuel lines or a restriction somewhere in the fuel lines or fuel tank.

BTW, welcome!!!

X4 - not enough information to make any recommendations.  I once spent quite a bit of time writing out engine troubleshooting procedures.  When I finally got to speak with the owner to get more information, it was the transmission causing "no acceleration."

Suggest Mr. Glawe take the time to delineate exactly how the car is behaving hot, cold, from stop and from cruise.   Does it cough?  Backfire?  Free rev RPM?  Most importantly, how recently were the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, points and condenser replaced?
