congrats, all of us will be thrilled on your updates. For parts, advice and help, Dave Thibeault is amazing, he has helped me with a 73, 64R2 and 63 GT Hawk. All concourse cars now. Dave is
978-897-3158 and studedave@aol.com
best of luck, Mark

they are original once, the 64 will appreciate both in price and enjoyment. Regarding your height, just move the track below the seats back a bit and you will gain much appreciated leg room.

I too bought many thousands of dollars from Dan for my 73 Avanti II and later for my 64 R2. A huge resource for parts and information. A reliable source of parts and information

I too just logged in, wow, what a change; I like it.

I have 3 restored, repaired and repainted surge tanks. Having bought a few damaged tanks over the years, I had Dave Thibeault do a full repair, hammer out dents, properly solder after disassembly and repaint black. Price without shipping is $550.00. Yes expensive, but with original purchase, shipping to and back with the full repair from Thibeault, the margin is small.

Glad to read that another has the Studebaker Avanti fever. As mentioned earlier by others, contact a local club and see which members have or had an Avanti. Speak with them for areas to review. you do want a numbers matching car as that is where value is. Also, if you want, contact an appraiser and question him / her on their Avanti knowledge and experiences. There is lots to look for and restorations get more costly than you want to deal with; unless you can do all the work yourself.
Dave Thibeault is a terrific resource of information, parts and possibly a car or two for sale. His email is studedave@aol.com
good luck, keep us posted

After soaking the cable in ATF and wiping it off, I never had a wicking issue. Its been about 3 years since I soaked and tried the cable, all good and the lock release is a moderate pull from the inside T handle.

I have used ATF :fluid, to loosen and lubricate. This was a trick from Jon Myers.

congratulations on your acquisition. An earlier mention of Dave Thibeault is great. I have relied on him for years and 3 cars; one was a 73 Avanti II which I sold, my 64R2 and my 63 GT Hawk. Dave is a great resource and is call friendly. Best wishes on helping our economy be great again.

I have used F type in both my 64R2 Avanti and 63 GT Hawk. NAPPA has this in stock as I had purchased a couple of cases

sounds like a grounding issue, especially if all fuses are in tact
electrical gremlins at work

I too adjusted the front seat for more let room. So much more comfortable getting in and out. Oh, I don't have that big belly bulge ,yet.

Also try Dan Booth with Nostalgic Motors , when I had my 73 Avanti II, Dan supplied lots, Dave Thibeault is also very reliable

thanks, I felt Harbor Freight was just too inexpensive and built cheaply. I checked out Summit tools and ordered their unit. I expect to get it Wednesday. Info and photo to follow.
thanks a lot

Can the members suggest a quality and reliable IR Gun to use occasionally on both my 64 Avanti R2 and 63 GT Hawk??

there is an overabundance of stupid. You just me the president of " I AM STUPID"

A bit corny and he spoke of Studebaker lasting till 1967. I felt he was somewhat disrespectful and sarcastic. Still, I enjoyed the beauty of the car as I too have a 64R2; late model #5470 in avanti maroon with an original black vinyl interior.

Mine arrived today. Though the package was beat up, the Authenticity Manual was fine. Wow, what a great and thorough publication. Looking quickly, the photo reproductions are amazing.
To all those involved, a HUGE thank you. A job well done.

not to pick apart the photo, but.............the pink and white flower/plant in each of the pictures is out of place and a distraction due to their location.
Still, a great photo and historical event.
