  1. Sorry. I was happy just to actually post. Not sure where the "parts" section is. I am looking for sideglasses, rear window, and the AC programmer (under the passenger dash. A black control box...solenoids and vacuum lines leading to it.) Also could use the driver's side window control arm.

  2. OK. This is a weird topic, I suppose. I purchased a 1990 4-door and the AC wasn't working. The first guy I took it to put on a new compressor (it did need one) but it never did cool very well in the passenger compartment. The freon was already converted to 134 and is full. The second shop did nothing and charged well for it. It has been in the third shop (Chevy dealership) for about 6 weeks and there seems to be no progress. Rich Morris and I think it may be the Climate Control module. The correct part number is 16080732. I have a few other units that LOOK the same, but have different numbers and do not work. It is possible that all of them are defective. It is also possible there is something else wrong. The heat doesn't heat up, even when I set the temperature to 90° but the AC compressor runs! When I set it to 60° the fan runs full speed, but doesn't cool the compartment on warm days. We have looked at the "programmer" (the unit with solenoids and vacuum hoses.) It may be that. The Climate Control is from an 89-90 Pontiac Bonneville and there are reports of AC/heater problems on those GM cars. I have no idea what to do, so...

Rich and I are looking for electronic techs to test out the original Climate Control units.

Or we are looking for new (or known to be working) units numbered 16080732.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I have checked with John Hull about parts. I have also checked with Ernest Edwards. Any other ideas out there?

  3. The bulbs in the tail lights heat up so much they can distort the lenses. I wanted to change them out a long time ago but was a little fearful of having to add resistors, etc. Several calls to the local LED wizards here all gave me different answers! I finally figured it out and used red LEDs in the back with 6 ohm, 50 w resistors. Makes the lenses a deeper red than when the lenses were new! Not sure I will change out the front amber light.

Next I am thinking about a ring of LEDs around my headlamps like some of the newer cars.

  4. My '03 is a daily driver. Because of that I have more than my share of chips and scratches. I also had a paint oxidation problem on the side of my car that faces the SW most of the day, at work. While getting a leather interior repair done, I asked the folks who could do really good paint. (I liked some of the custom jobs on their lot that had new paint. They were waiting for new leather interiors.) They told me the name of the company. I took my Avanti there and they gave me a bid, with the original Ferrari paint, of $2800 plus $300 if I did the door jambs. I negotiated it down to $2500 for everything, including taxes!

They did a sweet job. I am really particular, but it is a great job. There is a little more metallic in it than the original and I am not sure there is as much purple highlights in bright lights, but the quality is great. They repaired the fiberglass stress fractures and did a several step paint job...top of the line job they do.

I am going to try to include pictures, but I have never been successful at doing that before. So here goes.

Just as I thought...all my files were to big to upload. Sorry.

  5. I recently had my 2003 Avanti painted. They did a pretty good job, but I am hard to please on the details.

The paint is very close but has more metallic than the original and not as much of the lavender undertone. It is a Fererri Tour DeFranc Blu.

In the process of checking everything out, I found out one of my front side marker lens was cracked.

I found new ones at Amazon.com.

They are #331-1403L (or 1403R, left and right sides) and were made for Fords. (Yeah, I know.)

Amazon would also have the housings. I didn't check those out. I only need the lenses.

The site I ordered from is: www.amazon.com

    The number again:

Depo 331-1403L-US Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable Driver Side Replacement Front Side Marker Lamp Unit by Depo

    Good to know these things.

I might add I am only going to sell one or two more sets of taillights. I want to keep three sets for myself.

Once these are gone...there are no more...anywhere!

I sell them for $285/pair to help recoup the money I had to put into remanufacturing them!
