I have the Real Rodder wheels on my 64 Daytona and my friend had them on his 64 R2. They are good quality. The spinners are from Endurance Products an are sold through Real Rodder.
Can't go wrong with his wheels.

Bob Palma told me a story about the time he and his brother snuck into the proving grounds and hid in a tree on the side of the track and watched an Avanti running laps. On one of those laps the car stopped, backed up and than stopped at the side of the track. The driver got out and walked up to the tree and told the boys to come down. Though they thought they were camouflaged by the tree their legs were dangling below the branches. After questioning them about what they were doing there he put them in the back seat of the Avanti and drove them to the front gate and told them to leave and never come back. They may have been the 1st two people to ride in the back seat of an Avanti.

Since Herb Adams had a lot on influence on the GT there was lot of GM styling and parts that went into the car. The suspension is a nightmare with GM parts but all customized. There is nothing of the shelf with the GT

Geoff, the correct front bumper for the GT was made out of fiberglass and was different from all other bumpers. Hope that helps with your build. I would love to see pictures.

Does anybody have or reproduce the Avanti VIN plate? Need to replace since it was damaged when the body shop removed.

Update to the Avanti Night at LaSalle Kitchen & Tavern this Wednesday in South Bend.
The Avanti Special with be 2 Avanti Burger for $30.00 and will include fries.
The Loewy Cocktail is $8.00 and is based on an old French cocktail called the Corpse Reviver
If beer is more your style the will have the Avanti Amber Ail from Studebaker Brewing for $4.00
I am still working through city red tape to get the reserved parking in front of the restaurant.
This special will run all evening but I plan on being at the restaurant between 5 - 8 to see all the cool Avanti's

Avanti Night at LaSalle Kitchen & Tavern
Wednesday May 4th will be Avanti night at the LaSalle Kitchen & Tavern in Downtown South Bend.
There will be a special Avanti themed burger along with a Raymond Loewy themed cocktail.
There will even be special parking for all Avanti’s and who know we may even have a little Avanti trivia thrown in for fun.
Plan on having dinner with your Avanti friends on Wednesday May 4 during the SDC International Meet.
We will have more details in the coming weeks.
Please let me know if you are interested in attending.

From a forum post on 12/13/14 (ASR Sunroof repairs/parts)
Sky-top roofs were originally manufactured in St. Louis, Mo. They provided a lot of the sunroofs directly to Avanti. My 84 had a Sky-top roof, I am not sure when they discontinued using these in Avantis. Ernie retired and sold the business to Midwest Metal Fabrication of New Haven, Missouri in late 1991. They are somehow associated with Wenning Enterprises which has a website. They are located at 201 E Industrial Dr New Haven, MO , 63068

I talked to them earlier this year and they indicated they still make and supply parts for the roofs but no longer repair them.
They indicated that the son of the former skytops parts supplier also located in St. louis, Auto Air Company now has a repair shop in Union Missouri and will repair these. I have misplaced his name and number but calling Midwest should provide that information.
I also know that Dan Booth has parts for Sky-tops.
I know this is old so I am not sure if it is still accurate.

This is the molding off the 84 GT. Currently under going a frame off restoration. Used a lot of nonstandard parts.
Just found a 1984 305 HO engine to replace the 1990 350 that was in the car. We are bringing it back to how it was at Mid-Ohio in 1984.

I will need to replace my body side molding. Can somebody tell me a source for the rubber trim? What did it originally come off of?

Nothing about this restoration is standard :0. Most the fiberglass work was done, shall we say "half-ass". Looks like I am bending new metal. Who caries the proper pedials?

Here is the set-up on my car. Was this a standard in 84? It is very possible mine is custom.

Can somebody please post a photo of an 84-85 manual pedal configuration? Do they drop from the top or up from the bottom? Somebody cut the gas pedal by 2/3's and are using an automatic break pedal on a manual car so when you try to hit the gas or clutch you always hit the break.
A photo of an existing car would help plus who would have a replacement for this year? Photo's of both the petals and brackets would give me some guidance. Trying to put everything back to factory.

Paul, the tires are 215/70R15. Dolly Blue handles great with those on it.
